Jerash Ancient City Ruins

What a splendid time we spent here learning about such rich history of Jerash! We visited in late September .. the sun was scorching but the wind was rather pleasant.. hence it was easy for us to complete the entire trail.. Best part was the North Theatre where we clicked umpteen number of photos. The place was built in such fashion that it was windy for the attendees at the theatre from all sides and the stage was perfectly placed and visible from all three sides. We utilised our Jordan Pass for entry here

It is considered one of the largest and most well preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy. The ruined city of Jerash is Jordan's largest and most interesting Roman site, and a major tourist drawcard.

A magnificent historical site. Roman built, still standing after thousands of years. Good facilities nearby. If you are in Jordan, Jerash is a must to visit, only 40 minutes from the capital Amman.

Jerash (ancient name - Gerasa) - one of the three great Roman cities (along with Petra and Palmyra, located in the Syrian desert). Its colonnaded streets, exquisite oval forum, three theatres, two temples and 15 early Byzantine churches make such a stunning impression that the city is called Eastern Pompeii.

Many well-preserved monuments make Jerash unique, but it remains difficult to access and poorly located.

Hundreds of Roman columns pointing a prosper city. Decorated in the Spring with flowers and green grass.

Ein Muss wenn man in Jerash und Jordanien ist. Man sollte sich auch Zeit nehmen. Es ist ein wunderschönes Gelände. Auch kann man hier noch auf der Original alten römischen Straße laufen.

It was a nice surprise to see so much of the history of various civilizations still standing on a massive scale. One of the most memorable parts of our visit to Jordan. Definitely a must see and it deserves more recognition
