Goblin Hill Villas At San San

There's nowhere else like this magical spot for its spaciousness (grounds and villas), views and pristine beauty. Laid back, quiet, friendly, safe and lovely in every way.

Our family has been coming here for 15 years, and this past Feb 2022 was one of the best of many stays. We keep coming back because it captures the sleepy, super laid-back feel of Port Antonio and San San. It’s a completely different vibe than Ochie, MoBay or even Negril. More than any of those areas in Port Antonio you’re accepted right into the daily local life. But back to Goblin Hill. The staff are professional, friendly and super good keeping the property beautiful. I give everyone esp ownership kudos for somehow managing the last point under the withering biz conditions of the pandemic. Out of ~30-40 villas it felt like 1/4 were occupied during our stay. We also hosted a second family there, friends from Europe in Jamaica for the first time and of their 10 day trip, both young and old said Goblin Hill was their favorite. Our cooks prepared genuine Jamaican meals mornings and evenings laden with local favorites- ackee and saltfish, bammy, gorgeous ripe papaya, banana fritters each breakfast bursting in color and aromas on our double end-end dining tables, served on our back patio overlooking the lawn against a postcard backdrop of the blue Caribbean and the local San San coastline. For dinners we had snapper, chicken, mutton finished off with dessert like pineapple upside down cake. Genuine Jamaican cuisine through and through. We've always opted to have the cooks prepare our breakfast and dinner and have never been disappointed- the extra charge is worth every penny.

Villas were in very good condition, AC work perfectly down to the oscillating shutter, can’t speak for the TVs as I don’t think we turned these on even once, beds and linen very comfortable, hot water in the showers was fine, all appliances worked fine. Wifi was fast, strong in both our villas.
Grounds- as mentioned impeccably maintained, at least one gardener tends to the property constantly, the pool was clean and open and we used it multiple times daily, the bar seemed decent but not something we dwelled on, the dining area was well kept. We didn’t take breakfast at the property restaurant although it was available if booked the day before. The tennis court was being resurfaced and wasn’t quite ready when we left.
Airport transfer- our Euro family used Petey who Goblin Hill partners with. He met our friends on time at MBJ and they had a good transfer in to Goblin Hill. We also rented 2 small cars. The road from MoBay to Port Antonio is very good, not more than 10 years old. However, the entire road from Port Antonio to San San is being rebuilt and will be great when done but for now you’re limited in many places to a crawl and must weave around potholes and long sections of unpaved road bed. But we liked the freedom to come into town for the market, grocery store etc. and let us get ourselves to more distant sites like Reach Falls (not this trip tho)
Food shopping- we went into Port Antonio for fruit & veg in the market, groceries in the supermarket, meat & fish at the rear of the store. The cooks will do this for a service charge, we like bantering with the vendors.
Excursions- Port Antonio has more great outings than a typical 1 week vacation allows. We did a ½ day coast tour by small power boat from Blue Lagoon. This was great fun with our good natured guide giving commentary of each cove and inlet. We got to Boston Beach and had it virtually to ourselves for ~2 hours. We lunched at the original jerk pits. Another outing was to Frenchman’s Cove, a paid entry public beach that’s incredibly gorgeous. It’s a 20 min walk from Goblin Hill but by road so may not be suitable for young children. The beach is a 10 min walk from the parking lot through a botanical garden of trees and flora, many labelled. A freshwater stream at hip-wading depth runs out to the surf at one side of the beach. A concession runs a fast food and drink service and efficiently when we were there.

Always a pleasure staying at Goblin Hill. It's very quiet, private and friendly staff. It's home away from home. The wifi service has been upgraded so wifi is available throughout the entire property. Both rooms had mosquito nets over each bed which was a plus. The tennis court has been upgraded. The lawns are well kept. The lookout point offers a beautiful view of a small island. Overall it's a great place to relax. I definitely recommend Goblin Hill if you're looking for a calm, quiet and private place to relax.

Marc was beyond accommodating from the booking process to the stay itself. Goblin Hill Villas is a gem in a tropical, lush, island paradise. This property is the best kept secret on the island. I’ve stayed here numerous times (and I’m generally not one to stay at the same place more than once). Each time I return, I feel like I’m back home. The hospitality, the grounds, everything makes this a memorable and magical experience. The food is always remarkable and prepared in your villa (by request). The location is an easy walk to both Frenchman’s Cove and the Blue Lagoon. If you need a driver, the front office will gladly find one for you. I want to keep this place a secret but I also want others to support this amazing business which is why I’ve referred my family. If you’re still on the fence about whether Goblin Hill is the peaceful, zen, oasis for you and your family/friends, jump, do it. You’ll thank me later 🙂

We stayed here with a larger group of 15 the first week of April. Weather was perfect. The staff was incredible. Althea, the general manager was very responsive and accommodating and so kind.
Once on site, Amanda, Jason, Benjamin and Roy, the groundskeeper all made us feel at home, and overall welcome in their home.
I had no issues or sweat feeding everyone, with all allergies and dietary needs in mind.
The food was delicious, and if you wanted to hit the town, or beach they'll call their #1 taxi man, Petey. He's the best! It was truly seamless and CLEAN and crisp. Pool was the perfect temp, we had a swim in the mornings even.

The views are important to note because of its elevation. You have access to the large back grass lawn that wraps around the whole property to enjoy the sunsets. With beach access stairs at your convenience. It's a great property to bring a large group. (They also have tennis courts).

COVID- they arranged Dr. Minto to come do all of our covid testing for us & helped organize airport transport.

They really want you to enjoy your time there and relax. No detail goes unnoticed and we are extremely grateful for our time spent here.

If your in need of a peaceful, tranquil vacation, then Goblin Hill at San San is the place to be. Been there many times and love it each time. They cater to your specific needs. Its a villa away from home.

They place is really nice and laid back. if you want a quiet hidden getaway then sure its the place to be. The view is also magnificent!

Breathtakingly beautiful property set in the lush hills of beautiful Portland and overlooking the beautiful blue Lagoon.

The property is truly beautiful...and the service was equally enjoyable. I would go there every summer if it was up to me!

Great place to relax with amazing views of the ocean, the staff are Angels and the villas are cozy... I'll be back for sure.
