Grants Jerk

The Jerk chicken breast I had was very tender and seasoned just right. The wait time was between 5–10 minutes as there wasn't a large crowd. However, the [lady] server was very slow and nonchalant. When I was handing her my receipt, she didn't even acknowledge me. Later I realized they work with a number system, then they call your number and serve you. She could have explained that because it was my 1st time there and didn't know the procedure. But, overall, it was ok.

Grants is a great little quick stop on whatever long journey you may be on when passing through St. Catherine.

1. The place always has customers inside from the opening to the closing of their doors. And whichever stores or food shop have customers consistently like they do must be good.

2. The atmosphere is simple but nice enough, they have made some fair and appreciated upgrades since the few years back that I visited there. They have installed some outdoor seating at the front of the shop, so you can have a nice little place to relax a bit and dive into your meal. The front (or side door) has gotten a neat little face lift as well.

3. For an outdoor/on the side of the road food shop, the place evah clean clean always!. I have never spotted a piece of trash, empty bottles or even a fly hanging about their place. Counters are clean inside, staff are properly covered and dressed while working. Which quite frankly is surprising, but really good. They have hygiene covered I would say.

The staff interactions are short for me but well received, once you come in and get someone's attention to place your order, they ensure it is done in a timely manor (I don't want no "sorry sir a 45 min before it ready!", pupa jezaz! Lol). I stopped by the other day and a very nice lady was at the counter working on a timesheet for them I think and I told her Good Afternoon and asked if she was working and she immediately paused her records keeping and took my 5 orders and before I quint, food ready, wrapped and change a wait on me right at the counter. Boom Love it! 😅

5. And lastly but not the least of it all. THE FOOD!. Lawd have mercy, a wah mek them food haffi succulent, soft, flavourful, aromatic, juicy and delicious so? And this is not a one time experience, this is every single time we stopped and its the same great taste and experience. From the pork, chicken, sausages to the festival's, press-fry plantains and hmmmm the BAMMY'S 😍. I never fancied bammy's before stopping at this place, but now it's all I want as a side order. The pricing is okay, smallest order starts at $600.00 JMD (like $4.00 USD for tourist), and the serving might seem small visually but for some reason it hits the spot and you might have a piece or two left over afterwards. (Just might!, please don't hold me to that...😅👀).

📌Conclusion:
This place is a hidden GEM 💎 esp. for culinary enthusiasts or persons that like a change in their culinary experience that are out and about passing through St. Catherine. If you're in that area, add it to your list of places that you must not pass! They deserve twice as much stars than this review allows.

The Jerk Pork is juicy, well flavored. The hot pepper sauce gives it the perfect zing!! You can request the pork skin, too. Crisp to perfection! I visited 4 days in a row. It was that good!

The real deal! Good food paired with great service. 5 stars. The jerk pork and jerk sausage was amazing. Great experience all round. Clean establishment , nice station to sanitize.

well im on vacations ...and we usually go to border jerk ..which we did .....but from st ann's to kingston we stopped in linstead....and oh my God...we were in jerk chicken heaven....from the car door opened ..the smoke from the pits...hypnotized us ...i dont eat pork ...but smelled good ..i had a 1/2 pound of chicken .....and my wife got the pork ..and sausage....we made 2 trips since we been here ...and stopped on our way back to st ann from kingston....its sooooo good ...great staff as well ...

Those jerk pits are quite impressive! The jerk pork with their homemade pepper sauce is a must have with a cold bottle of Ting! I wish I had ordered more food to go. I’ve been craving it ever since. The staff are great and friendly. I wonder how much food they cook a day? I will definitely return and truly do look forward to it.

One of my favorite places to have jerk food. The food is great! I've also always experienced great customer service on my visits. The seating area, I applaud the initiative, however I would recommend the area be enclosed, preferably with something of a mesh material that would prevent the flies but not take away from the roadside dining experience/atmosphere. It hard having to battle with flies wanting to share your food. Otherwise, you'll have to take you food away to have elsewhere.

This place is so busy and filled with customers, which should tell you about the quality of the service and food. The food is awesome. Everything on the menu sell off. People literally drive from Kingston to get a piece of this jerk. I wished they had a covered sitting area for eating. The sitting area is sheltered from the sun but when it rains you will get wet. Unfortunately for us we visited when it was raining so we ate in the car.

Best jerk ever. I now understand why people detour from the toll and why some travel from Kingston just for it. Customer service was awesome as well. Servers were very polite and pleasant.

An excellent reason to drive the scenic route as opposed to taking the highway. And if you're pressed for time or just simply can't manage the old route, pull off the highway and give them a visit. This is undoubtedly my first choice when choosing where to dine on swine (get it, dine on . . . never mind). If you live in the city, it's worth ever ounce of gas driving there JUST for the pork and sausage. The pepper sauce is PEPPER and not salt. GET IT! Oh bonus, they have a sink out front to wash your hands too.

Had the pleasure of visiting this hidden gem off the beaten tourist path. We we’re visiting from Canada and it came highly recommended by locals. It’s a beautiful drive down the Old Road right into Ewarton.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by sweet smiles from King George and ladies at the front. The mouthwatering aroma of smoking jerk filled the air. We enjoyed jerk pork, jerk chicken, sausage, bammy, festival and some roasted breadfruit. Simply divine.

Staff was courteous. Didn’t take long to get our food and get back on our way. Will definitely stop again.

Small but always busy. A good sign that the food is good. It's a small shack on the side of the road. Easy to miss if it weren't for all the cars pulling in and out all the time. They open around 12-1pm, takes time to make that pork delicious. Highly recommend.

Best spot on the island for Jerk Pork... Hands down! Probably the most consistent place I've bought food from. Been buying jerk prom from my days of high school, some 15+ years now.

I love everything about this place except that it can get a little crowded in the space at the front where you place your orders.
I would suggest also that you go there anytime around midday when the food is hot and just off the fire.
I love their jerk sauce as well....food is absolutely yummy 😋
