Verona Cathedral was consecrated in 1187 and built in the Romanesque style.
A unique feature of churches in Verona is the tornacoro, a round structure that separates the choir (coro) from the rest of the church.

The Verona Cathedral, also referred to as Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare after its ancient Christian predecessor, stands as the primary Catholic sanctuary in Verona. It is the part of the complex combining the Episcopal Palace, the Canons' Cloister, the Chapter Library, the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Fonte, and the Church of Sant'Elena. These structures are linked to the cathedral through the Santa Maria Matricolare portico

The Duomo di Verona, or Santa Maria Matricolare, is Verona's cathedral church dedicated to the blessed Virgin Mary. It was built in Romanesque style around the 12th century. It is a marvelous church that everyone should visit while in Verona! There is a combined ticket for this church, the Basilica di St. Jeno and two more churches in Verona.

The whole cathedral complex is absolutely one of the most must see places in Verona, even if you're not particularly interested in religious architecture.

The Verona Cathedral dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary (Santa Maria Matricolare). The cathedral was built in the twelfth century over the remains of two earlier churches, which were destroyed by an earthquake. It is probably one of the most imposing buildings in Verona and dominates its skyline. The current interior of the cathedral is from the sixteenth century and contains several works of renaissance art. It is certainly a visit when you are in Verona

Beautiful, much nicer than the Duomo in Firenze. More to see and to the Duomo ceiling is incredible. The bonus was the sounds from the pipe organ.

Unusual and beautiful cathedral, we did not venture inside as it was a Sunday and we were concerned that we might interrupt a service.

Without going in there is much to see outside, you can marvel at the stonework and admire the upkeep of the cathedral.

The restoration of this cathedral that was originally built in 1187, is absolutely unremarkable. The ruins were excavated of the original church and are visible just beyond the new tourist entrance.

Does not look like much from the outside but what a treat when you get in. Definitely worth the cost......get the Verona Card if you are visiting other attractions in the city as it covers many of the top attractions.

Beautiful cathedral - went to see the Titian which was worth it. But also the beautiful ceiling in the dome is worth seeing.
€4 per person, reasonable price to pay.

The cathedral of Verona, whose official name is the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta but also known as the cathedral of Santa Maria Matricolare, from the name of the ancient early Christian church, is the main Catholic place of worship in the city of Verona, mother church of the homonymous diocese and Italian national monument. It is part of a complex architectural complex, which also includes the Palazzo del Vescovado, the cloister of the Canons, the chapter library, the baptistery of San Giovanni in Fonte and the church of Sant'Elena, the latter two connected to the cathedral via the portico of Santa Maria Matricolare.

Amazing cathedral loaded with treasures. The baptistery alone is a gem. Do not miss this or any of the big four Edina churches.

Three churches to see in one place. It is included on Verona's 4 Churches' pass, so you should definetely visit it. The Duomo is Verona's second largest church, so its architecture is impressive.

First and foremost, purchase a Verona Pass. It is a super deal for someone sightseeing for over a day. There are 24 or 48 hour options, don't second-guess yourself.
The cathedral complex is amazing, absolutely breath-taking, rich in the general history as well as the religious aspects. We were smart in leaving the Duomo for last as it simply outshines any other church in town.
