A Night to Remember at Verona Arena
Stepping into the Verona Arena is like taking a step back in time. This ancient Roman amphitheater, standing strong since the 1st Century AD, is a sight to see all on its own. It's huge, and you can just feel the history in the air. But when night falls, and Verdi’s Aida begins, it's something else entirely.
Imagine this – hundreds of performers taking the stage in this gigantic, open-air venue. The Arena’s stone walls and the night sky are the backdrop to the epic love story unfolding before your eyes. The music is stirring, filling the entire space, making the experience even more emotional. The costumes, the sets, and the talent of the performers are top-notch, making you feel like you’ve been transported right to ancient Egypt.
Experiencing Aida at the Verona Arena is something you've got to do at least once. It's an amazing combination of history and artistry, and seeing an opera here, under the stars, is something you’ll never forget. It’s a night filled with unbelievable music, powerful performances, and a unique atmosphere that you just can’t get anywhere else. In short, it’s just incredible.

The Arena in Verona is the social center of the town. So many people stroll in the piazza, chatting in the many sidewalk cafes, all within sight of this beautiful, ancient monument. I was fortunate to see La Traviata performed there during the 2023 opera season. The production was nothing short of spectacular, and the people watching was almost as good. It was one of the most memorable nights of my life.
Even if you can't or don't want to see an opera here, do visit the Arena and take in the fabulous vibe there.

This was a very awesome experience, they were getting ready for a concert. You could just walk on in, I was able to walk around and check out the arena for free. I don’t know how often that happens but I lucked out and really enjoyed checking the place out. I would definitely recommend visiting this historic place if you get the chance.

Purchased a Verona card online and collected it from the nearby Tourist Info office. Skipped the queues and went straight in. Very well preserved arena. Seating sides are quite steep, so not recommended if you have trouble walking or climbing steps.

When you travel to meet Juliet & Romeo so don't forget to visit the Verona Arena although it's smaller than the One in Rome.
It still gives us an excited feeling like the Gladiator who tries to find the gorgeous victory.

The Verona Arena is one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres.
Built in 30 AD, it is still in use today for large-scale opera performances.

The Verona Arena (Italian: Arena di Verona [aˈrɛːna di veˈroːna, aˈreːna -]) is a Roman amphitheatre in Piazza Bra in Verona, Italy built in 30 AD. It is still in use today and is used for large-scale opera performances
It is one of the best preserved ancient structures of its kind. In ancient times, the arena's capacity was nearly 30,000 people. The stage for concerts and opera performances decreases the available places to a maximum of 22,000.
The building itself was built in AD 30 on a site which was then beyond the city walls. The ludi (shows and games) staged there were so famous that spectators came from many other places, often far away, to witness them.[citation needed] The amphitheatre could host more than 30,000 spectators in ancient times.
The round facade of the building was originally composed of white and pink limestone from Valpolicella, but after a major earthquake in 1117, which almost completely destroyed the structure's outer ring, except for the so-called "ala" (wing), the stone was quarried for re-use in other buildings. Nevertheless, it impressed medieval visitors to the city, one of whom considered it to have been a labyrinth, without ingress or egress.[2] Ciriaco d'Ancona was filled with admiration for the way it had been built and Giovanni Antonio Panteo's civic panegyric De laudibus veronae, 1483, remarked that it struck the viewer as a construction that was more than human.

Beautiful place to visit.
This is a great place to take pictures and walk around. There are a number of shops to choose from if you want to go shopping, and there are a number of restaurants to choose from if you’re hungry. Restaurant prices are not too bad.
Visiting the Verona Arena is a must if you’re visiting Verona.

Well worth the visit. It's beautiful, impressive, and a great souvenir. They also have events throughout the year so, check online before coming as there could be a concert or else happening.

Really enjoyed the visit. Booked tickets online in advance, which saved quite a queue on the day. Much is open including some of the inside walkways. Toilets at various places. It was interesting to learn about the history and also to see how it is used today 2000 years later for opera performances. Could sit and reflect for as long as we wished. Definitely the highlight of Verona.

Best trip of our lives. The sites were amazing, the shopping was out of this world, and our breakfast in the Verona square was the best we had during our entire trip.

Wow, this place is older than the Coliseum in Rome. This place also hosts events like the summer opera series. It has cushioned seats in the lower part and then the old step seating up top. It isn't as crowded as it is in Rome. A must visit.

The Verona Arena is beautiful from the outside. We were there Halloween night, lots of people and families enjoying the nightlife.
Enjoyed so much needed Italian pizza while I visited.
