Although I consider the Luigi Guerricchio belvedere which is by the main Piazza Vittorio Venetto square the best one, you cannot go wrong with any belvedere.
Whichever you visit you will be rewarded with breathtaking, movie like views of this fascinating city

A amazing and very old city, Matera dominates in Puglia area at South Italy. And this spot is the view to admire the view of the city

Personally I prefere this view point. You see the beauty of the city and the beauty of nature.

A must see the old town is lovely. It was nice to walk around end of May was nice not crowded but still hot 29 degrees today.

Parking is free for 2 hours when you've a parking permit and when it states on the parking sign.

The breathe of history blows straight into your face at this spot. Watch Pasolinis "Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo" before or after you visit and realise the effect on you.

Such a find, we had an amazing room in the caves. The view from the terrace is spectacular. I was so glad we heeded advice to visit Matera at night as it is beautiful.

Definitely a must go if you're in Matera! Has great views of the Sassi and the town. Try to go early morning or late evening for the best photos.

It is the recommendable approach to "getting" what Matera is. Start from looking at the distant horizon with caves and terrassing on a mountain. Imagine making yourself comfortable by digging the cave deeper and putting some stone awning in front of it for protection. Use the roof of that annex to build a path and stairs to the next level up... This is what you have below you in the Sassi area, an intricate daedalus of stairs, streets, houses, warehouses, stables, cisterns, churches and places of cult. The other beautiful panorama is to be i served from the St Augustin church on the opposite side of town.

Fantastic view over the canyon and a part of Matera. But can be very crowded as there is not so much space.
