Beautiful glacier! It’s a short walk from the parking lot and incredibly beautiful! You can get really close before there is a section of sinking sand close to the water, so be a bit mindful of your steps. It was not crowded heute, so we really got to enjoy the quiet and scenic view here

Christopher Nolan's favourite glacier (Interstellar and Batman Begins were shot here). A short walk from the parking lot, try to go to the right of the main path to go close to the glacier than the lagoon area.

It is a beautiful place to visit. I visited it in March, a free car park, a short stroll from the car park, and you are literally on the glacier. It seems to get less attention than other sites in the area, which, for me, is a great plus.

My favorite place on the south coast. Crampons are a must in the winter months. Free parking. Walk up a path and you're at the foot of a glacier.

Absolutely stunning place - visited in 2022 and 2023. We walked up to the glacier (right up to it) and had the entire place to ourselves. Unlike other tourist sites, this one seems to be less on the radar, and therefore we got to savour it and the quiet of nature without the tour buses. There really is no words for how impressive and beautiful these glaciers are. Well worth the short walk from the parking lot (10-15 minutes each way) to view it.

One of the most accessible spots to see the glacier up close. A short but steep walk from the carpark. Recommend sitting and listening to the glacier. It cracks as it moves. There is a cafe by the carpark that has food. There are also toilets for customers in the cafe.

Free parking. This place really takes your breath away. Seeing the glacier and melting ice was an incredible experience. It was not crowded and really peaceful. You could get really close to the ice and glacier. Our favorite stop on the ring road

A site you must visit. Car park (free - no facilities) situated on a track just off the E1. From there it is a short walk to the glacier itself. You can walk right up to the glacial lake with several bergs grounded on the beach. The colours are amazing and the size of it is difficult to take in. There are some stunning views on the hike back to the car park.

Arrived in a day with rain and wind. Walked half mile and boooom! The glacier is right in front of you. It’s so close but it’s so far away, it’s there but can’t see it clearly due to the fog. It’s surreal!
The best scenery I had in my Iceland roadtrip! Unbelievable!

No picture can describe greatness of this glaciel. Its one of the Icelandic places where I was asthonished by the power of nature. Be carefull about climbing on the glaciel though. It doesnt seem to be dangerous but it really is, and as far as I remember it is forbidden.

Must see!! Easily accessible off highway 1 and better than Skaftafell Glacier in my opinion because there's less sand to get right up to the glacier at the end of the trail with a lake and floating icebergs that are more picturesque. The water is pretty murky and not clear though like some of the other glacial lakes.

You can get pretty close but not right up to the glaciers.
Very easy 10 minute walk and free car parking.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful stop on the road. The hike to the glacier is about a mile and there are loose rocks so you must wear sturdy shoes.

Beautiful place. Cars can be driven up close followed by a short hike to breathtaking views. Glacier is surrounded by a glacial lagoon.

There are huge glaciers, there are impressive glaciers, there are amazing glaciers, but this one is ... A cute one. Really, it's a lovely one nested between mountains.
The lake is not too big so you can take good shots of the ice cliffs if you have a small zoom.
Really enjoyed walking around the lake. Gentle stroll, not a hard hike (unless you try the hike on the west side of the lake !)

Large glacier, very quiet - not many people at all, we could hear the ice cracking and being pushed towards the ground. Free parking. Would recommend to stop on your way to/from diamond beach.
