Eldborg next to Geitahlíð

There is a small parking place closed to the start of the hiking point. The asphalt road is in good condition. To go up the volcano is not hard, and it might take you 15-20 min

I climbed the smaller of the two craters, a very non-strenuous walk. The larger sits to the west. Careful where you walk because the trail off the parking area is a bit vague; no markers, and you don't want to step on the fragile moss. I was here late afternoon in autumn, and the sunlight and colors were spectacular. Worth the cold and wind. The gravel road to the parking spot might be a bit much for a 2x2's undercarriage. There's another parking area on the road between the two craters.

Big cool volcano. A bit hidden so I could visit it alone (not very common in Summer)

If the sky is cloudy, this place is a great alternative to have the chance to spot the Northern Lights. I was there on the 3rd week of January 2023. Though it was gusty and bitterly cold, our guide took us off-road and we set up the cameras here to have a glorious view of Aurora Borealis. Quite an adventure to be at Eldborg by Geitahlíð

Super easy hike with beautiful view. I love visiting craters and this one is amazing and very easily reachable. The colours are stunning! Really worth a visit. There's also other beautiful spots in the region, like Seltún, Kleifarvatn, Grænavatn, Krýsuvíkur cliffs

15 min stop, worth every minute of the extra 15 minutes you will end up spending here cause it's so neat. Great walk with examples of different kinds of lava. A unique stop for us.

There is a parking spot east of this Google maps marker with a trail leading up to the smaller crater, geitahild.

Saw this beautiful crater when driving by. There is also a path leading up to it.

Five stars if you like climbing atop the ridge of an old volcanic area. Less than five stars if that's simply not your sort of adventure.

Æðisleg gönguleið í mjög svo fallegu umhverfi á Reykjanesskaganum. Ein af fjölmörgum Eldborgum á Íslandi, ekki sú stærsta en með þeim fallegri. Gígurinn er mjög heill og ekki mikið raskaður. Smá brölt að komast að honum en verðlaunar göngufólk með flottu útsýni þó þessi Eldborg sé ekki mjög há yfir sjávarmáli.

Bei ordentlichem Wind sollte man jedoch vorsichtig sein - oben wird der Wind nicht weniger!

Eine kurze Kraterwanderung, trittfest und frei von Höhenangst sollte man aber sein
