Keilir

Amazing, enigmatic, hyaloclastite mountain.
It was created during subglacial eruptions during the ice age.
It is easy to climb, and the view from its top on a fine day is to be remembered.
On top of the of the mountain is a perfect view over the whole Reykjanes Peninsula. There is a concrete table with a view direction map on a metal plate.

Be careful:
-hiking route condition depends on the weather
-windy area
-there are no information desk, toilet, shop, etc
-poor or no phone reception

4x4 cars can drive on Höskuldarvegi and there is a parking at Oddafell and from there is a trail to Keilir.
From Höskuldarvellir there is ca. 3 km walk to Keilir.

Keilir is good visible from the highway no 41 (e.g.when you drive from/to Keflavík-Reykjavík).

Hot pool right next to it is a little too hot atm though

Keilir is a beautiful piece of nature's art. What a lovely cone. Very iCONIC. Everybody who has ever rated Keilir less than 5 stars simply doesn't understand. BOOOOO haters

Bardzo fajna trasa! Polecam sloneczny dzien bez wiatru czy deszczu, idzie sie wiele kilometrow od Ronda ale widoki sa wspaniale! Oplaca sie to zobaczyc! Krajobrazy jak z bajki!

Super miejsce, niedaleko głównej drogi. Dobra opcja na popołudniowy trekking. Dojazd na parking bardzo kiepska droga, pełno kamieni, da radę dojechać osobówka ale może być ciężko, zalecam wyższe auto. Poza tym widoki jak i sama trasa super !

Afar fallegt útsýni af toppnum ef veður er gott. Eina neikvæða er vegurinn frá Reykjanesbrautinni sem er um 8 km langur og afar slæmur yfirferðar.

Góra prosta do zdobycia, ale prowadzi tam wyboista droga dojazdowa i jest kompletnie nie oznaczona. Największy problem to dojechać na początek szlaku. Warto się przejść dla samych widoków.
