Wow to be able to straddle two continental plates was amazing. We did this late at night and it made it really special. Easy to park and walk too but please be careful in winter time.

With many things being canceled we were happy to see this right before dropping off the rental car. Hard to explain how cool it was to be at the tectonic plates but now I want to snorkel at the plates.

I find it hard to describe.
It normally seems so illusive, the whole concept of the tectonic plates, invisible to the eye.
But here it gets body, here is where you see at the surface, what is going on so far beneath our feet.
I'm impressed.

Visited here with my daughter as part of our dad-daughter campervan trip.

This is definitely worth the visit. Not far from the airport and so easy to make it part of your trip either wt the beginning or the end of your stay.

Few thoughts:

1. Parking is free
2. You don’t need to spend more than an hour
3. But its worth the visit for the sense of scale and experience being between plates

Accessible and free, with parking and an easy walk to the bridge. Nice area to explore with family or friends. Worth a stop along the coast. Open 24 hours which is wonderful too.

Visited here in February 2023. The bridge connects two continental plates so that, in geological terms, you can walk from Eurasia to North America in seconds. The landscape is barren, and it was cold and windy, but this was a fascinating experience.

Bridge between Eurasian and North American tectonic plates with small ravine below. Pretty cool sight and like an hour drive away from Reykjavik. Would recommend to come here to take photos or just visit. It's just bridge here and some signs, no bathrooms. Parking is free though.

Some couples hang locks inscriptions🔒 on it.

Overall, would recommend!

This was a really fun stop on our exploration of the Reykjanes peninsula. There is a literal bridge going over the space created between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. While you can explore this elsewhere as well, this is a fun place to stand on the bridge and be in between the spaces or to go down into the space itself and stand in the sand between the plates. Our stop here way just under 30 minutes in total. There are is no food or toilets available at this location.

Wonderful place. Short walk from the car park to the bridge. Worth reading the information boards. As good a place as any to experience how powerful plate tectonics is. If you have time, cross the bridge and walk about 50m to the right - the rift is even deeper than at the bridge itself. Can be exposed in bad weather.

Great view of the moon-like terrain and the ocean in the distance. Plus you get to jump between Continental plates.

The "Bridge Between Continents" in Iceland provides a quick, scenic stroll between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Offering stunning views and a unique geologic experience, it allows travelers to straddle two continents simultaneously. It's a destination that encourages preserving natural beauty over collecting souvenirs.

The Intercontinental Bridge in Iceland is nothing short of an architectural marvel. Nestled between two continental plates, it provides not just a physical connection but also a symbolic one. But it's not just the bridge itself that's impressive; the trail beneath it, meandering through the fine sand, is a journey in its own right. Walking the trail allows you to experience the raw beauty of Iceland from a unique perspective. The combination of the modern structure above and the untouched nature below creates a harmonious blend of man and nature. A must-visit for both the thrill-seekers and those looking to immerse themselves in Iceland's captivating landscape.

Who knew you could literally walk from Europe to America? Well, sort of. 😂 The Bridge between Continents is a 50 ft footbridge in the Reykjanes Peninsula spanning a gaping rift between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates!

A short detour. Makes for a quick break and a good photo opp. The bridge itself seems like nothing, but if you think about how its spanning 2 tectonic plates, it gains importance :-)
We went there on a bright sunny day - almost an Indian summer day - and the experience was fantastic. The black sand is fine and you can walk around a little.
If you're in the vicinity, make the stop.

I give a high rating because I really like the educational aspect of this place. The name of the bridge and specifically this point is only symbolic but it gives us knowledge why Iceland has so many volcanoes and why earthquakes occur.

There are information boards, pictorial representations of the European-Asian and North American tectonic plates and a small game about taking a photo from the right perspective.

Although it was absolutely freezing it had to be done .... Well worth a stop off just to say you've done it

It is a great place thinking of its geographical importance. Be prepared as it was very windy. Not much to see apart from the division place. You can get down and a walk also.

As the name suggests this is a bridge spanning two tectonic plates. Compared to the rest of Iceland there is nothing overly special here in terms of scenery but the fact that you are walking between two plates is very cool and it provides a great photo opportunity. There is free parking available as well but otherwise limited facilities, but that's fine as I don't think anyone would spend too long here. It's a good stop though and worth a short drive to. We went from the airport (Keflavik) as soon as we landed as it's only a short drive and I'd recommend it if you have time, it's a great way to kick off a trip to Iceland and nice to 'tick off' an attraction so quickly!

This is the place where North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. The bridge is over the gap between these 2 plates. This place is 15 minutes drive from Keflavik Airport. May be a last place you visit before flying out of Iceland and if you have time and energy to see. Otherwise after seeing so many another beautiful places this feels nothing. May be you should visit this place first and get it done.
