Location is good, make sure you visit Fjaðrárgljúfur while in the area, it is right there & very beautiful.
Room was warm, quiet, clean, comfortable mattress. I had a shared bathroom but it was clean & there were no issues as other guests were clean & respectful. Fun part was that you get like your own tiny house, it's a fun interesting experience, especially if aurora is around. It is very quiet both in the room
I really enjoyed dinner course menu, I think it was worth the money & the quality was definitely very good. They were also accepting & accommodating of my dietary restrictions, thank you! And the dinner was especially nice with a great choice of calm jazzy evening music - very relaxing after a long day. It was one of the most memorable dinner experiences while in Iceland, I really enjoyed it.
Breakfast was OK, with usual options in Icelandic hotels/guesthouses. Check in/out was quick, seamless. Staff very nice all the time. Parking free on premises.

Our stay was utterly charming. The staff were so warm and welcome. While rustic the cabin was clean and cozy. The bathroom was a little small, but the hot water broke any chill that came from the outdoor activities. Lamb from the local farm was delicious and the restaurant could accommodate our dietary requests quite well.

This guest house has an amazing restaurant in a peaceful location. Paula was our hostess and mentioned that the lamb at the restaurant is from her father's farm. I tried the grilled lamb, and I usually don't like lamb but it was delicious. The dessert was wonderful and the Hunkbakker coffee with rum was smooth and tasty. I'm going to have so much working out to do. The rooms and bathroom were clean with a shared bathroom. Our room mates were kind and excited about the trip too. Loved the experience.

Located about six kilometers west of Kirkjubæjarklaustur and just one kilometer north of Route 1, the small and very cozy wooden cabins of Hunkubakkar Guesthouse are a peaceful gem in southern Iceland. Our double room was in a cabin with four rooms in total and was a bit basic but very clean and comfortable. Thanks to the very warm welcome, we felt right at home. The restaurant serves lamb from the family farm just across the road and fish from the region - both were delicious! The breakfast was okay overall, although the selection was a bit smaller than in other accommodations. One of the most beautiful accommodations on our round trip, which we really liked because of the small cabins. We also recommend a visit to the Fjaðrárgljúfur gorge, which is only about two kilometers away. Thank you very much for having us!

Of all of the places I chose to stay on my tour, this surprised me the most. I knew I wasn't getting a chic hotel but what I did find was amazingly welcoming staff, a very quiet and comfy chalet, and excellent dinner and breakfast both with low food miles (food comes from the family farm over the road). I would have liked at least the option of some hot eggs with my breakfast as choice was somewhat limited. It actually felt like being in the British countryside with green fields and sheep, but only a kilometer down the road you have a canyon with another waterfall, and in the opposite direction, a lava field. What an amazing place. Thank you for a great stay!

We had a great time here. We stayed only for one night, but we really enjoyed it. Eventhough we had a shared bathroom, it was very clean and well maintained. I would really recommend to have a dinner in restaurant also: they served one of the best lamb I've ever tasted. Also, Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon only couple of minutes drive.
The only drawback is the room size, which is a bit too small, but you are not visiting Iceland to stay in your room

Beautiful spot and close to a famous canyon! Cabin was spacious, lovely and very clean. So rustic and cozy!
Staff were very friendly and accommodated a later check in no problem when we notified them.
Breakfast in the morning was good. We loved all the sheep on the property. :)

Can I ly leave a review for the dinner we had because we weren't guests of the hotel ... Just driving through. We had some unique requests and they were so kind to accommodate. I had the vegetarian white bean steak and it was incredible! Was like latkes made out of white beans. So so so good! Would highly recommend dining here after you check out fjaðrárgljúfur canyon.

We enjoyed our stay very much! The landscape is very beautiful. The staff were friendly and professional. An electric tea kettle and instant coffee were available in the cabin. The rooms were comfortable - the temperature can be controlled on the furnace. Breakfast was fantastic. They have a restaurant as well although we did not have meals there we did enjoy their drinks!

Very nice location. Very nice and helpful staff. Cabin comfortable and well insulated. Bathroom a bit cramped. Simple breakfast, compared to our previous lodgings this trip. Comfortable bed. Very quiet and pastoral surroundings. Recommended.

Had such a great experience here. The owner is a delight and the staff were super friendly. The rooms are basic but clean and quaint. Breakfast was fantastic. The restaurant for dinner was also excellent. We tried the vegan white bean steak and the asparagus soup and fish stew. Everyone was happy. The surrounding hills are idyllic and just up the road is a beautiful canyon to wander along. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

The staff was friendly and professional, landscape was stunning, room was clean and spacious! We had dinner at the restaurant and it was fantastic. Breakfast was also lovely with homemade warm bread and a wide variety of options. Staff was masked and we felt very safe the whole visit. As with everywhere we stayed in Iceland, the wifi signal was limited but cell service was strong. Definitely recommend this spot!

Spent one night here on our roadtrip through iceland and had a lovely time! The staff is extremely nice and welcoming, the food is locally produced and freshly prepared (the chopped lamb is a must-have, so tasty!) and the guesthouses are very cozy. We will definitely come back 😊

Clean, rustic, relaxing. The breakfast was very varied and there were no limitations. The restaurant garden is beautiful but it gets hot in the sunlight 😅 Wonderful little place, I wish I could've stayed longer!

We had a pleasant stay! I loved the rooms! Not super spacious but comfortable enough for 1-2 people for sure. I stayed with friends so the adjacent room was filled with friends - not sure if they book you with random people during a busier season, so you may have to share the suite bathroom with someone else.

The location was great - nice view of sunset if you get one and a good spot to see the northern lights!

The food was fantastic - a bit pricey, but there is literally nothing else nearby so either come prepared / have ate prior to your visit.

Breakfast was provided :)

This place was a sweet cottage that we stayed at during our honeymoon for a few days. We loved how quite it was and how kind the owner was. The breakfast was great! We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again!

What a lovely place to stay! Very charming and cosy little cabins. Nice and friendly staff. And they have a great restaurant as well! Taste the grilled lamb from their farm – it was the best lamb steak I've ever eaten!
