This is a pinnacle in Islamic and Iranian architectural art. A shrine dating back to 600 years ago with outstanding blue tiles which it gets its name from. Inside the mosque there's a guide that dedicated his research on studying this place and knows a lot from every corner of the shrine. This place was made by the order of Jahanshah and he and his wife are buried inside of it, just like Taj Mahal in India. Highly recommended.

The blue mosque is a well known monument in Tabriz. Constructed around 1465 it was destroyed in an earthquake around 300 years later. It took another 200 years for it to be reconstructed by a famous architect from Tabriz and is now in use again. You can enter it and wander around admiring the eautiful tiles and the reconstruction. Very recommendable.

The mosque was built in 1465, massive stone dome and extensive blue tiles used to decorate it. Unfortunately there was an earthquake in th 1770's which damaged the art work. The repair work is still ongoing. Would say it needs quite some time, as it looked like not even 50% done. The exterior is still missing most of its outer casing of tiles.

Turquoise Of Islam is the title of this special mosque because of the blue color you can find original parts of the mosque. It was built during JahanShah Kara Koyunlu in 14656. In 1779 an earthquake damaged most of the mosque including it's special domes and for 150 years ruins were left there but a restoration project 1939-1977 was done on this historical site and made it like what today you can visit.

On the first glance maybe not too much to see, but if you take a close look on the details you will be excited. You will find a unique combination of tile and brick decoration. Around the entrance Tiling is not just flat, it's 3d. A pitty there is not more left, but what you see is enough to imagine how great this mosque once was.
Beside decoration you should watch for the floorplan. It's a unique solutions to place a dome above a square plan.

It was constructed in 1465 by Jahan Shah the ruler of Kara Koyunlu. The mosque was severely damaged in an earthquake in 1780, leaving only the iwan (entrance hall). Reconstruction began in 1973, however, still incomplete. The diverse Kufic, and Thuluth scripts, the arabesque patterns, and the choramatic compositions of these facades, were created by Nematollah-ben-Mohammad-ol-Bavab, the famous calligrapher. The walls inside and outside had been covered with mosaic tiles. They are beautiful

In typical Iranian style you pay to get into a mosque, 150k for tourists. It is mostly a museum now so hence the justification. The beauty of the place is the restoration job that has been done thus far and continuing, but I have no idea when they do the work. There is not much of the original tiles, especially from the outside. They must have fell off during the earthquake that destroyed most of it and were taken away to other places and homes during those times. It is still worth the visit.

Nice historic mosque in the middle of Tabriz. It is very famous because being built in around 1500ad by the Jahan Shah but destroyed following several earthquakes. Sadly today only the entrance remain the only part that lasted trough the time. It is however one of the oldest mosque and the unique blue tiles have been restored partially on the inside. Not to miss if you like a bit of history.

A mosque remained from Aq Qu Younlus era (900 years ago) designed by attractive colours especially dark blue. Not only its oldness is attractive but also its prettiness and mix of colours that addresses Iranian carpet and its designs will attract you. It is located in heart of Tabriz besides Azarbaijan Museum that gives you this chance to visit it by only a little walking as well as Building of Tabriz Municipality and its perfect architecture belonged to Qajar Era.
