Having previously as a pond in irrigating and water local gardens and farms, the establishment of Shah Golü is attributed to Âq Qoyunlü kings and its expansion to Safavids; reconstruction of the pool and terraces dates back to 1727.
The complex, turned a public park in 1930.
The corners of the pool each measure 225 to 240 meters and it has depth of 3m and 9 meters southeastern and northern corners, respectively.
The historical complex entered the National Cultural Heritage list in 15.Feb.2009.
