Haldia is an industrial port city in Purba Medinipur district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It has a major river port and industrial belt located approximately 124 km (77 mi) southwest of Kolkata near the mouth of the Hooghly River, one of the distributaries of the Ganges. The Haldia Township is bordered by the Haldi River, an offshoot of the Ganges River. Haldia is a centre for petrochemical businesses, and is a major trade port for Kolkata.

Haldia once had a small, thriving Japanese community. The Japanese community of Haldia were mostly engineers and top executives at the Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation purified terephthalic acid (the corporation's majority stake is now under The Chatterjee Group) plant in the city.[8] The community had lived in the mini Japanese township called Sataku (Japantown) for many years. Sataku had Japanese restaurant and a local Japanese news station. Japanese movies were shown in local theatres in the township. Haldia was the only Indian city to have a Japantown. The city of Haldia is governed by the Haldia Municipality. Earlier Haldia Municipality had 26 wards. In 2015, the number of wards was increased to 29.[10]

Haldia Municipality falls under the jurisdiction of two police territories, served by Haldia and Bhabanipur police stations. Haldia police station is located in Chinranjibpur, and covers an area of 98 km2 (38 sq mi) with a population of 65,000.Bhabanipur police station is located in Bhabanipur, and covers an area of 115 km2 (44 sq mi) with a population of 124,906.

Haldia is also a base of the Indian Coast Guard.Indian coast guard DHQ 8 (Headquarters for West Bengal) is located at Haldia.There is a hoverport to house four of the eighteen hovercraft belonging to the Indian Coast Guard. The Indian coast guard also has a pontoon jetty to berth a fleet of ships.Presently two fast patrol vessels, one inshore patrol vessels, and one small craft are based at Haldia.[

Not much is here except a few restaurants, shops and park, but the place has a very good and calm vibe.

Good friends with cup of tea or sweet corn or ice cream here at the river bank of Haldi, a sorted afternoon .
Nice place for old people also. The fresh natural air from the river will give you relief from the toxicity of the industries.

Haldia Township is a very nice place located on the banks of the haldi river. The most beautiful part is the road and sitting area along the riverside. The roads are well maintained and there are multiple sitting areas being developed. The cool evening breeze will just make you happy and peaceful. There is the main jetty for water vessels located on the riverside and the bus stand is also located just 5 mins distance from here.

Specially in winter... it's awesome place for enjoying moments with family .

I reside here only in a flat nearby Brahma Kumaris Bus Stop, I mainly love going there by weekends, pleasant and cool breeze with fresh oxygen available to take in and pollution free my dogs love playing there during time about 5pm the sunset scene is amazing just like an art it looks so wonderful you won't come from there, EXCELLENT FEELINGS , vendors to there for food like Fuchka or tea. If u jog here no problem, morning time too excellent feelings soft/pleasant music will to give u 5star experience, 5star feelings loved it

It's an awesome place to visit for all ages. You just fall in love with the place. Scenery is mesmerizing 😍😍. If you sir here for half an hour you will just loose yourself in the scenic beauty of nature. Your soul and peace of mind will be refreshen.

Nice place with sweet breeze coming from the riverside. Some food stalls were there. Enough places to sit. Shore of the river as well as the stairs and cement benches.

Nice place to enjoy your evening. Watching the sunset down the line gives you a good feel. You can also enjoy some street foods down there.

Nice place for a hangout! If you are visiting with friends then it's certain you'll have a great time. It's free of cost to visit there. If you are planning to go there please go early because with time the place gets really crowded with the locals.
Don't worry for food, you'll get plenty of options there.
I can't get over this place as I have tons of memories of this place and no words can actually explain the feeling and emotions so highly recommend to visit this place.
