The peaceful temple at mangalagiri hill. Lord narasimha here is famous for having panakam , it is said that the statue will make sound after having exactly half of the panakam in which ever container the devotees take . And the prasadam panakam is being offered to devotees continuously and the temple premises will not be seen with any ants or houseflies, even if the panakam (the sweetened water ) is being served continuously . The temple located on the hill and there exists a temple down the hill also .

Do visit when u are around vijayawada and do drink the prasad panakam. It tastes yumm .

Panakha Narasimha Swami, the Hindu God in lion face and human body form, is the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. His temples are mostly located in caves atop hills for example Mangalagiri (giri is mountain), Yadagiri Gutta (gutta means mound), (9) Nava Narasimhas have abode in Ahobilam forest hills.
The Narasimha under discussion has his abode in Mangalagiri, is approximately 16kms. away from Vijayawada Junction.Almost all South bound trains pass through Vijayawada Junction. Some trains bound to Guntur Junction from Vijayawada stop at Mangalagiri.
The temple:- The train fare as well as bus fare is INR 30 only, from Vijayawada. From Mangalagiri Bus stop, after walking for about 0.75kms. We reach the Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple at the base of the hill, who gives darshan along with his celestial escort “Lakshmi” seated on his lap. The name of Goddess Lakshmi is Chenchu Lakshmi.
About 200metres from this temple we have “Share Autos”. They accept from 6 to 8 passengers per trip and charge INR240 for a “to and fro” trip. They give you their telephone numbers so you can call them after darshan.
Having reached the hilltop one has to buy a ticket for INR60 for the only parshad that is Panakham (Jaggery in water with a few more ingredients). You may also offer to buy some sugar candies. They give a small picture for you to keep. Pay INR10 at the next counter for those who receive your pot of Panakha parshad distribute to your family members and pack the rest if you carry containers with you. Plastic bottles are also available for purchase in the shops to fill (y)our Panakham prasadam to take home.
Earlier when I was a young girl, we used to visit Mangalagiri , Panakham used to be prepared in our presence. We had to order how many litres we wanted to offer to the deity(God). They used to pour the Panakham into the lord’s mouth, until we heard the gulping sound and the remaining panakham wouldn’t go in, indicating that God has had his fill. Rest will be given to us as Prasadam. Legend has it that the Britishers tried to measure the opening (mouth) with a measuring tape and they couldn’t. Nowadays we just have to buy the tickets and they give a Standard measure of fresh Panakham to be offered to God. They didn’t show the gulping sound. Just pour some it into the lord’s mouth. When we come out, volunteers are there who fill our Panakham Prasadam into our personal containers after distributing to our family/team members. Then they will collect the remaining Panakham for giving to those pilgrims who can’t afford to offer Panakham to the God. They will also be given Prasadam without any payment. We can also tip these volunteers. There’s no restriction.
When you come out of the temple you are given some porridge or variety rice like tamarind rice and so on, in donas (Organic cup shaped containers). Then you come out and take a look at this beautiful landscape from atop. Call for your auto and return to the base. The temple is open up to 16hrs. daily.🙏🙏.

The temple holds a rich history, with its age dating back many centuries. It is intriguingly situated on an ancient volcanic mountain, adding to its mystique. One fascinating aspect is the divine aura surrounding the main temple. "Despite daily offerings of hundreds of liters of panakam to the 'Moola Virat', there is an unusual absence of flies around the sacred site, leaving us in wonder and amazement".

Tickets sold for panakam to present to lord narasimha swamy by contractors @ ₹50 .. These tickets are valid only if we buy a temple token for ₹10/-. First time I saw this type of process . Poojaris demanding amount at garbha gudi . turning into pure commercial .

Panakalaswamy temple, located in Mangalgiri, is a divine place for Hindus. It is said that here, God is self-existent. There will be no statue of god in the temple but there is only mouth widely opened to 15 cms. The mouth os covered by metal face of the god. The God takes jaggery water as offering by a conch. As the offering of the Panakam to the Lord is peculiar, the Lord is here is called Panakala Narasimhaswamy. It is said that the hill was once a volcano.
Behind the temple there is the temple of Sri Lakshmi, to the west of which there is a natural cave.

Nice temple, we went on Sunday, There was queue it took 45 minutes for darshan. We went at morning 7 O'clock, so there was not much queue, it went after 10 am on weekends, there will be so much rush.

Temple was nice and it was very old temple. We can take Rs. 60 ticket to offer panakam for god. Poojari only offer panankam to god and will say sankalpam on our name. We cant offer panakam to god with our hands. After sankalpam, poojari will give panakam to us to take home. You can also take 100 rupee ticket for sheegra darshan.

It is yeguva narishmha temple and it is located okn hill top and there was also diguva narasimha temple, which is located below the hill. We have to take darshan of yeguva narasimha first and then diguva narasimha.

It is located 12 km away from Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Temple.

An ancient and powerful temple that one should definitely visit. It is just sad to see how they have commercialised this beautiful temple. They loot money from you at every point.
1. Rs.10/- for a two wheeler entry
2. Rs.90/- for Panakam ticket (Even though it was mentioned as Rs.60 in the ticket, they demand you pay Rs.90/- and they give you some extra Tulsi stating that it is Rs.30/-)
3. Rs.10/- for Neivedhyam (Even though you have paid Rs.90/- for Panakam, it will be offered to God only if you take this Rs.10/- ticket)
4. Rs.20/- for a substandard plastic bottle in which you can carry the left over Panakam after offering to the God). If you don't want to pay this extra 20, you have to drink all the extra Panakam there or leave it there.

Temple in Mangalagiri town and also on hill. Availability of auto to reach temple on hill. It seems limited space for car parking. Visiting before 9 pm darshan can be changed completed faster. Water mixed jaggery offered to lord, part of mix received back, given as prasadam to devotees. Devotees also visit laksmi devi temple on hill.

It's beautiful place and located on top of mountain. Very powerful and famous temple. You must visit when you are near to this place. Darsan will take hardly 15 to 20 mins of time. But surely you will have better feeling during relaxation. Lord Narasimha Swamy is Swayambhu here and from this hill you can see beautiful view of Mangalagiri.
