If there was a calm and calm place in our area this is the one.
Thirumullavaram Maha vishnu temple, located close to thirumullavaram beach is very ancient and is very famous among Hindu devotees.
The temple is believed to be conceived and constructed by Lord Parasurama.
It is one of the famous maha Vishnu temples in Kerala.
Also this was once only temple where lord Siva and their families as worshipped and placed together in a single peeda ( പീഠം).
Also the temple is famous for Hindu after death rituals and Karkidaka vaav bali etc.
If you are a devotee and loves Hindu rituals then this is a must visit place.

I was travelling through Kollam when we accidentally visited this temple. Very peaceful and calm location. The temple is well maintained. Easily accessible via road. Enough parking space. As it was almost night, no much rush was visible.

Mahavishnu temple. It is famous for 'bali tharpanam' (a ritual being followed by Hindus). Apart from that, have a very good silent sea side to spend time.

One among the rare group of temples where Lord Mahavishnu and Lord Siva deities are present together.
Situated in the western part of the town in the banks of Arabian sea, this temple is famous for 'bali darpanam' which happens on the day of Karkkidaka vavu.

'Thilahomam' is an offering done in favour of your beloved ones who are no more, the kohl which is given as prasadam is supposed to be worn by family members for prosperity.

We went there for balitharppanam. The entire process went peacefully. The rituals are performed under qualified acharyas of Devaswom board. ₹ 100 is charged for 01 person which is reasonable. Unlike Papanasam in Varkala, you may not find any local acharyas for balitharppanam. As we had performed Aandubali, we could enter temple and do Thilahomam and Palpayasam vazhipad. Those who come for other Bali rituals are not allowed to enter temple after the rituals without taking proper bath. Parking space infront of temple is crowded most of the time. Seperate parking space available near seashore where balitharppanam is performed.

I was there to do the rituals of my uncle. Clean Serene place where you can discard the ashes at beach and do the rituals afterwards at the near by stall. Temple visit and offerings can be done thereafter. Beach is nearby the temple. You can also spent some time watching the end less calm sea.

Thirumullavaram temple kollam is known for BALI DARPANAM and it can be done any time starting from 5:30...
It's been done in the sea shore nearby the temple followed by "Thilahomam" and palpaayasam which are special in the temple.

It's known for the famous and calm beach for swimming too..

This temple is very old and the ambience is very peaceful. Now the temple is undergoing renovation. Thirumullavaram beach is nearby and annually during Karkidakavavu large number of people visit here for observing the rituals associated with that. It's about 6-7 Km from Kollam town
