A Picturesque location, perfect for mornings. You may see monkeys and pigs on the way. I was actually expecting some motion sickness on the way. However, the journey was very smooth.

The 14 km-long Thamarassery Churam (Mountain Pass) is the synapse that connects the realms of Wayanad to Kozhikode. It is a passage resplendent with steep turns and bends, along with some of the most picturesque visuals in Kerala.

The British used to transport spices from Wayanad to Beypore Port, Kozhikode via the Kuttiadi route. Between 1700 and 1750, they searched for a new route which could reduce the distance. For which, they sought the help of Karinthandan Moopan (chief), a tribal leader from the Paniya tribe in Wayanad.

Thamarassery, formerly known as Thazhmalachery, it is one of the taluk in Kozhikode district and major hill town in the Kozhikode district of Kerala, India, 30 km north-east of Kozhikode (Calicut) City and 29 km east of Koyilandy.

There are nine hairpin bends in this 14 km long pass.

This 14 km long mountain pass, locally known as Thamarasserry Churam connects Wayanad with the nearby district of Kozhikode. Adivaram, the base point of the pass lies in Kozhikode.

Each hairpin bend opens up a new frontier. The misty peaks glare back right at your soul and at each of the nine bends, one feels the desire to stand still and stare back.

It is located around 800 meters above sea level along National Highway NH 766 in Kozhikode District.

From the Lakkidi view Point, you get a panoramic view of the steep mountains and the valley, the 'Thamarassery Churam' (the serpentine Ghat road).
