Recently visited "En Ooru," a captivating tribal heritage village in Kerala. It offers a rare glimpse into the lives of tribal communities, showcasing traditional huts and providing a unique experience.

Initiated by the Kerala government, "En Ooru" stands as the first of its kind in the state. To make the most of your visit, I recommend booking tickets and shuttle passes online to avoid potential waiting times for jeeps.

Be aware of the parking fee, and once you reach the village, explore the village's cultural richness with sculptures, exhibitions, various art forms, and convenient refreshment stalls. However, it's advisable to carry an umbrella around noon to stay comfortable.

"En Ooru" is a commendable initiative, allowing visitors to connect with Kerala's tribal heritage.

Visited En Ooru in October 2023. The hard work to build such a place on top of the hills deserve appreciation. We visited the place during weekend and there was lot of crowd. After a bumpy jeep ride of around 10 minutes, you reach the place. There was heavy rains and wind when we reached there. Make sure to carry a sturdy raincoat with head cap if your are planning to visit the place during rains. Umbrellas are of no use as the wind blows with high force. There is a restaurant that serve tribal dishes. Overall, En Ooru is a must visit destination if you are planning a trip to Wayanad.

Visited on 16.12.23..a very scenic and peaceful place.. You can sit there for hours by enjoying the scenic view around.. Though the place is meant for indulging into the life of tribal people, I feel it is a perfect place to relax and sit.. The construction of the wall through the hilly area is amazing.. Huts there are a bit modernised and do not give the feel of tribal habitats.. It is a naturally beautiful place rather than a tribal heritage village..

This is a pretty huge and amazing place to spend few hours in. Make sure to buy the tickets online to avoid more waiting time on ticket counter and jeep delays. You will need to either share jeep with someone or you can go as a family to reach this place. Wear comfy shoes as you gotta walk a lot. They have few stalls once you reach midway to have coconut water and fruit salads etc. you can also shop in the store. All in all you might have to spends few hours here so make sure to carry a small backpack with your stuff. The place is really beautiful and you can definitely take great shots here 😍💕

En ooru is an amazing tribal setup having a serene atmosphere over the hills. There are many more places like souvenir shops, open theatre, snack outlets, etc. Jeep travel is needed to go there, which is provided with corresponding charges. Different experience ♥

En Ooru- what can i say.. this is an absolute gem in western ghats.

This tribal village is built to show tribal lifestyle in mountains. This is newr Vythiri on the same route of Lakkidi View Point.

A short ride from mountain base to top of it and you see the most beautiful views tribal enjoyed for hundreds of years

The market, the roads the cottages and a sweet sound of the folk dance drums, all is worth the wait.

You need to buy ticket at the entrance along with jeep or private vehicle ride. It cost around 50/- INR and 20 INR for jeep ride as you cannot take your own car. The parking is near ticket counter.

You will find village theme restaurant and exhibitions on top where you can buy things made by tribals.

In all, this place in Wayanad is not to miss. The view points you get to see are extraordinary.

Check out some pics i took.

Artificial tribal villages made to promote tribal crafts and products. Good place to go with family. We need to park our vehicle outside and have to go in a jeep with a fee per head. Certain times there is around half an hour waiting for jeeps.

Firstly this is Beautiful place!!!!

Mistake done by us -
We didn't know the ticket needed to be booked in advance.

You have to visit their website and book your slot along with the transportation you need.
There are two options
Jeep or private vehicle arranged by them.
You cannot take your own car and go.

Once you reach you can visit this place.
It's very beautiful!!

And worth the time spent.
Approx 2 hours is needed. Best time to visit is after 3pm.

It's a must visit place in Wayanad.

One of the most beautiful tourist attractions in Wayanad! The trek uphill in Jeep was amazing, the place itself is surrounded by mountains and small guts, and is very scenic. There's also a traditional tribal music performance you can't miss! Definitely recommended

It was a calm lovely place with a Greenery view. Cover with mountains and clouds.

A huge place with a lovely atmosphere surrounded by hills!! Really a god's own place. You can easily spend at least 3-4 hours there. One suggestion is to book the tickets online as you avoid the big queue to buy tickets. I would recommend buying the tickets in the afternoon after 2-3PM as there will not be many people during that time.
You have to go with their vehicles as your own vehicles are not allowed.
Overall an excellent place

En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint: A Glimpse into Indigenous Wisdom and Cultural Riches

Nestled within the heart of the enchanting landscape lies a treasure trove of cultural heritage and a doorway to a world steeped in the wisdom of indigenous communities – the En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint. This unique vantage point isn't just an overlook; it's a portal that opens a window into the traditions, stories, and way of life of the native tribes that have called this land home for generations.

Approaching the En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint, one can feel a tangible shift in the atmosphere. The air is alive with an energy that resonates with the history of the land. The journey to this sacred site is not just a physical one; it's a journey into the heart of a living cultural tapestry, woven with the threads of resilience, tradition, and a profound connection to the earth.

Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by an immersive experience that celebrates the diversity of indigenous cultures. Traditional dwellings stand as living testimonies to the craftsmanship and architectural ingenuity of the tribes. The use of locally sourced materials and the meticulous attention to detail showcase a harmonious relationship between humans and the environment.

But it's not just the structures that captivate the senses; it's the living stories that unfold. Native artisans share their crafts, weaving intricate patterns, crafting traditional tools, and adorning fabrics with vibrant symbols that hold deep significance. The sounds of drums and songs echo through the air, a celebration of heritage that transcends language and speaks directly to the heart.

One of the most profound aspects of the En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint is the opportunity to engage with the community members themselves. Conversations become bridges that span cultures, and interactions become portals that reveal shared values and unique perspectives. Learning from the tribal elders is akin to sitting at the feet of living historians, absorbing wisdom that has been passed down through generations.

The view from the En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint goes beyond the physical landscape; it encompasses a perspective that encompasses the past, present, and future. Tribal storytelling sessions provide insights into myths, legends, and the oral traditions that have shaped these communities. Listening to these stories under the open sky creates a sense of connection with the very essence of the land.

The En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint is more than a tourist attraction; it's a platform for cultural exchange and preservation. By supporting the local artisans and communities, visitors contribute to the sustainability of these cultures. The funds generated from these interactions often go towards education, healthcare, and other essential needs of the tribal communities, forging a path towards empowerment and self-sufficiency.

As the sun sets behind the horizon, casting its warm glow on the tribal dwellings and the landscape beyond, a sense of gratitude fills the heart. The En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint isn't just a place to marvel at; it's a place to reflect upon the intrinsic value of cultural diversity and the importance of preserving indigenous knowledge for future generations.

In a world that can sometimes feel fragmented and disconnected, the En Ooru Tribal Viewpoint stands as a beacon of unity. It's a reminder that despite our diverse backgrounds, we are all part of the same human family, bound by our shared humanity and our interconnectedness with the earth. This viewpoint doesn't just offer a view of the landscape; it offers a view of the soul, a view that reminds us of the tapestry of life and the importance of honoring and celebrating its many threads.

The most sought tourist destination in wayanad nowadays.

Expect a crowd, better to reach there before 11 am to get tickets. Looks like online booking will be available soon.

I really love the concept, also its maintained really well.

Unlike other tourist destinations, toilets are neat and clean.

Food served in the restaurant is tasty.

We didn't get tickets for jeep, so we ended up walking all the way to the top for entry.

Overall a good experience.

It was a wonderful experience, I would recommend going after 3:30PM. The weather becomes very pleasant after that. When I visited it was full of mist. They charge 30Rs for Jeep ride to En ooru, which is well worth it. At the entrance of En Ooru they will charge 50 per person. Highly recommended
