When the Pandavas were on their way to heaven, their wife Draupadi could not cross the Saraswati River, Bhim brought a huge stone and placed it over the Saraswati river stream which acted as a bridge. That rock is now known as Bhim Pul.

It is located near Mana village, just 4 kms from the holy shrine of Badrinath. You can easily reach Bheem Pul by walking 1km.

Mana village is as beautiful as your imagination.

Maharishi Ved Vyasa told the epic Mahabharatha in this village, and Lord Ganesha wrote the complete narrative.

The way to heaven goes from here, and it is the place from which the Pandavas took the route to their eternal journey.

When they were taking their final journey to heaven, ‘Swargarohan’ Pandava Bheem brought a huge rock and placed it above the Saraswati river stream in such a way that it served as a bridge and was known as Bheem Pul.

One can spend an entire day here admiring the natural escapes.

A majestic natural bridge spanning across the river Saraswati, nestled amid the lush greenery of Uttarakhand. Legend has it that this architectural marvel was built by none other than the mighty warrior Bheem from the Indian epic Mahabharata. Supposedly, during their banishment in these parts, the Pandavas were searching for water when they stumbled upon the Saraswati. However, there was no way to cross it! Being incredibly strong, Bheem lifted a massive rock and placed it strategically over the river to form this awe-inspiring bridge. Even today, locals and tourists alike flock here to witness this enchanting piece of history firsthand. So next time you find yourself near Uttarakhand, don't forget to pay homage to old Bheem and his incredible feat at the Bheem Pul

Bheem Pul is one of the many interesting historic site of Uttarakhand and has a story attached to it as well. According to the story, Pandavas, who are well known as Pandava brothers in the Mahabharata followed this very path when they had walked their final journey from Badrinath temple to Swarga.
But, Draupadi, wife of Pandavas was finding it difficult to cross the Saraswati river. So, at this point, Bheema, who was supposed to be very strong and possess the strength of several elephants, take a big stone and placed at this point.
This single piece of stone was so perfectly placed and covered the area so well, Draupadi crossed the river easily.

"a great monolithic stone doubling as a bridge. Some marks seem to be hand and feet impressions of Bheem. A must visit at the origin of River Saraswati"

It's an amazing rock structure with a mythological connect of being lifted by Bheem and put on top of Saraswati river to create a natural bridge on their way to heaven. Whatever be it's mythological background it is definitely worth a visit.

It is situated at Mana village, the last village in India near Badrinath. The place relates to Mahabharat kaal. So the big rock place across naturally is called Bhimpul. Other attractions are Ganesh gufa, Vyas gufa etc.⛰🏞💚

Must read history before going there. Beautiful place. It is believed that Saraswati river is invisible. But below the Bheem Pul at Mana Village, we can get to view the holy river Saraswati. Saraswati river confluences with the roaring Alakananda river near Mana village. It is worth going for a short trek and visiting this place. It is believed that Bhim Pul is a rock bridge founded by Bhima of Mahabharatha, to help Draupadi to cross the rivulet.

These is so much to explore, to know and to experience in every place in India but Utrakhand is a state which is Devine in every way. Bheem pul is at the end of Mana village( ancient name is Manibhadra). This is where on the svargarohan yatra Bheem made this bridge (Pul) by placing a huge rock in the gap. There is so much more added to this Devine place which is also origin of River Saraswati and the river which is flowing gushing hard here and disappears in few meters coz of Ganesh ji’s curse and then appears straight at Prayagraj. What Rick history and culture we belong to and have inherited …… this trip has filled me with more pride and honor for who I am and from where I belong to. Proud to be Bhartiya.

An awesome place from where we went to

Bheem Pul and Saraswati temple are great places to visit. Saraswati temple, in my opinion, could be the last temple on this side of the border. It is done very nicely within the

By some quirk of fate (or perhaps human intervention), Mana has managed to retain it’s old world charm. It features quaint stone and mud houses lining the mountain walls. Clean to a fault, the village had the ubiquitous children playing cricket (what else!) and gnarled old women weaving in their verandahs. I Picked up a woollen sweater from the village shop. Not for the need of it, but simply because of how coarse the wool felt to the touch!

As we meandered through the village, at the far end was a shop grandly announcing itself to be ‘Bharat ki Aakhri chai ki dukaan’. Naturally, besides chai and maggi, he served glucose biscuits. The proprietor gladly obliged us with a picture. We had a cup of chai with glucose buscuits, and headed on to explore further.

A short climb higher up into the mountains got us to a cave complex of sorts. This is the Vyas Gufa or the Ganesh Gufa. Legend has it that this is the spot where Rishi Ved Vyas dictated the Mahabharat to Lord Ganesha. Each of them were perched in their respective caves. Whether there is any truth to those legends or not, the caves themselves have an aura to them. Unlike a deserted mountain cave, here there is a presence of sorts. It’s like there’s a purposeful energy to it, that one feels once in there.

After spending a lazy afternoon exploring Mana, we headed towards the source of the Saraswati river. ‘Source’ is a misleading word, since this refers to the starting point of the river. In this case, the Saraswati is visible for a distance of about 100 meters before she disappears underground again. Of course, you may believe the legend that Saraswati was too noisy for Rishi Vyasa’s liking, so he banished her underground and that’s where she stays to date. Or you may not. Fact is, the river disappears after 100 odd meters!
