Successfully summited to Goechala viewpoint.
It was one of the best experiences I had while trekking.
Trek is really beautiful, you'll discover things throughout the trek, sometime you'll see lush green forests, high top peaks, rhododendrons, etc.
Thanks to Black yak for making it super comfortable and easy for me.
Tents and every facility at trek was upto the mark.

We had a great time trekking from Yuksom to Dzongri, Black Yak took care of us from start to finish and I would recommend them to anyone planning a trek here.

The tents were good quality, and there were warm down sleeping bags so we were never cold at night (but do bring plenty of layers for the hike, it gets really cold at Dzongri Top). Everything was very professional and we felt in safe hands.

One big highlight was the food - by a long way the best food I've ever had on a trek, and lots of it too - way more than we could finish. Each meal was different, and I don't know how they cooked up such feasts with minimal equipment. The muttar paneer on the last night was a real highlight, as was the egg curry.

We did the trek 18-23 May which is toward the end of the season, getting towards monsoon, and even though the visibility was bad for about half the trek in total, we still got great views at the top of Dzongri and various spots along the way. The rain was never too bad whilst we were walking either, although I'd definitely recommend taking an umbrella. We were told by other trekking companies that it would be too rainy to attempt the trek at this time of year, but in our experience this was definitely not the case - as long as you can put up with a bit of rain from time to time.

The only other thing to mention is that the first two days of our trek were fairly short, and if you're someone who's done a bit of trekking and has moderate fitness then they may feel a bit too easy - each is about 2 or 3 hours of decent walking uphill. It would be possible to do an itinerary that combines those first two days (so walking from Yuksom to Tshoka in one day) instead, so you could consider that as an option.

Though we were a mixed group, all of us were given equal attention. I can never forget how none of us were left alone to walk the day’s miles. The last climb to the pass was led by Aita, who knew everyone’s pace and saw to it that all of us were there on the pass.
Food, tents, sleeping gear was all exceptionally warm. The 10 days of pampering has made me such a spoilt woman 🤪.

We knew Goecha La would be a challenging trek and wanted to go with the best. Black Yak delivered. Puspa is an accomplished mountain guide - local to Sikkim - who runs his treks with the rigour and attention to detail you would expect for a major expedition. We felt safe all the way to the summit and were incredibly well fed and looked after by Birkha, Sukhang and the crew. Not forgetting Baloo, who puts the 'black yak' in Black Yak Expeditions!

Doing the 8 day Goecha La Trek with Black Yak Expedition was one of the best experiences we ever had! The owner, Puspa Lama, was very welcoming and made us feel at peace at any time.
Our tour guide, Puran Gurung, and the expedition team, Nima and Satyam (+ the Yak porter) were some of the friendliest people we met during our travels. They prepared some of the best food we ever tried in India for us, and told us everything about the Khangchendzonga area and Sikkimese culture. We saw plenty of wild animals, including the Himalayan Black Bear, the Langur monkey and blue sheep.
Together we played cards and shared great moments in the mountains. We would recommend Black Yak to anybody who wants to do combine challenging treks with great and fun times. One of the best expedition companies in the Himalaya!

The most wonderful 8 day Goechala trek with the team from Black Yak who were brilliant! My wife and I always felt in good hands in the high mountains. The food was amazing, the tents, sleeping bags, liners were more than adequate for the cold nights.
