You can visit it from inside the bird sanctuary. It's a 10 min walk from the bird sanctuary. The scenery is breathtaking. You will get a great view from top. It's also not much crowded because you have to walk/climb to reach it .

Beautiful walk inside the forest to reach. Roughly 1km one side! views are good! plastic free zone still people threw many wrappers throughout. forest was dense and the ruins were really good! we ended up picking many plastic wrappers one our wayback and handing over to the authority for disposal.

It is ancient capital of Sikkim. It's way is very quiet and memorable. About 1 km walking distance from the main road beside Bird park.

Considered as Ancient capital of Sikkim, this place is well maintained by the government despite being ruins.
One must be prepared to walk/hike for about 800 meters from the entry gate.
It will take around 10-15 mins to reach this place.
The road is broad & safe but within a thick forest cover.
One can spot some birds if lucky.
The place is good for photoshoot.

About Rabdantse:
Rabdentse was the second capital of the former Kingdom of Sikkim from 1670 to 1814. The capital city was destroyed by the invading Gurkha army and only the ruins of the palace and the chortens are seen here now. However, the ruins of this city are seen close to Pelling and in West Sikkim district in the Northeastern Indian state of present-day Sikkim; Pemayangtse Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim which is close to the ruins. From the vantage point of this former capital, superb views of the Khanchendzonga ranges can be witnessed. This monument has been declared as of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India

It's a beautiful place with its own history. The path towards it is a bit lengthy but a beautiful one with the big trees .

This ruins is a 20-25 min hike from inside the Bird Park.
Worth the hike. Clean and serene place. Good for some pics.
We just laid on the grass under the sun. Was lovely.

If you're lucky, you'll get some pawed buddies to accompany you.

The ancient capital of Sikkim has a ruin of an old castle. One has to hike through the jungle path for about 700mtr to reach this site. The view from the top is breathtaking. With a 270° view of mountain ranges and far away towns looking like toy buildings this site is worth exploring.

Sikkim is a place where nature always comes before the ruins. But here history speaks it's story in sadness and beauty. The stones of the ruins speaks of it's destruction in the hands of invaders. It speaks the glory that was Sikkim them.
The walk to the spot is definitely a bonus to many nature lovers and off course the grand view points to gape at.
This is a must visit place in Pelling.

The Ancient Capital of Sikkim. An archeological site. A Little jungle trek is required to reach the site. A must visit place.

No need to buy tickets to visit Rabdentse (though you need tickets to visit the Bird park which is the same route).

It was a great experience visiting this place. We had to hike through a dense forest for around a mile to reach this place. When we started our journey there was no one on the road and we felt stranded but while coming back we met so many travelers which was a relief and made it exciting for us. This place has the ruins of a palace and worshipping place.

This historical site is located inside the Bird Park and is worth visiting.

Trekking is possible; the route is 800-900 metres long and slightly slope.

They have placed a board sign in your path in order to encourage you to ascend to this location.

As soon as you arrive at the destination, the climb is forgotten and you can relax and take in the scenery.

Visited in May 2023. Amazing trek, picturesque architecture and ruins, beautiful hues and views.

The place has an amazing 2km trek passing through jungle before actually reaching the ruins. The trek is extremely beautiful. We experienced bit of light rainfall and the entire trek was filled with clouds. The trek leads to the ruins. This is a nice place for architecture photography. The ruins also offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and trees. This place is surely worth the visit.

Also note, there's a bird park as well here called Sidekeong Tulku Bird Park. The entry for the bird park is same however, once you enter, the trek is different and there are clear demarcations for the same. There's a separate review for the same.

We went during peak tourist season. Though the place was crowded but it was manageable. Parking shouldn't be an issue. There is a cafe inside which is the only option for food here and it's really bad. If you can carry your own food, it will be good.

Must visit place. You will have to do 10-15 minutes of trekking to reach the ruins, but it's worth it. 2nd oldest capital of Sikkim. Amazing view point from top of the ruins. Original palace and temple ruins still present.

Sort of a hidden gem, short trek takes you to this beautiful attraction sitting on a hill giving you gorgeous views. Though there is some information about its history I wish there was more. Lots of photo opportunities and nice grass lawns to sit and enjoy sunshine.
This only makes the whole thing worth it.
