Shri Kirateshwar Mahadev Temple

A very beautiful Shiv Mandir on the way to Pelling from Jorethang. We took a stop on our way to Pelling and visited this great temple of Lord Shiva. You have to cross a bridge by walk (50m) and then reach the temple. We reached around 4 pm and could explore the temple hassle free. There is a river flowing just next to the temple. Picturesque views from this temple are splendid. Puja materials are available just near the entrance. Pujari was helpful and he allowed us for dharshan during closing hours too.

Very holy place of lord shiva, you must visit this place for worship , the river sound make this place more holy.

It was an extremely peaceful place, i visited during the rainy season and was mesmerized by the sound of flowing water, you can sit beside the river and it was amazing.

People believe, this is the place where you can have the same blessing from Kirateshwar if you have a pious soul.The suspension bridge which joins Legship town to the temple, the mighty Hanuman Statue, the temple with its unparllel Shivalinga and the mighty Rangeet with its pristine beauty.....you will be spellbound.

Excellent ambience next to the river. You can pray, meditate, spent some quiet time and there won’t be anyone to bother you.

It is situated in legship Sikkim in West Sikkim district.
Generally when we are going to pelling for Siliguri or njp we cross this place but as we not many people know the importance and facts about Baba Kiriteswar so they miss the opportunity to visit.
The story about the place is Third Pandav Arjun before the war of kurukshetra did a great Tapasya (as Pravhu Krishna had advised him) of Lord Shiva and Baba became prassanna on Arjuna and blessed him and also gave him Bhramhastra.
Now it is a very sacred place and local people celebrate Bala Chaturdashi and Shiva Ratri with great devotion

From the main road stairs go down with well maintained garden on both sides then we cross the famous Rongeet river via two hanging bridge (the scenic beauty is fabulous from the bridge) then we enter the Mandir complex
Starting with Ganapati papa then Hanuman ji , Laxmi Narayan, Ram Sita , and Pashupati nath temples
At the end is MAA Durga and adi linga Baba Kiriteswar.
Those who are coming from Ravangla towards pelling can move around 100 meters and reach here at legship crossing

Must visit if you are planning to visit pelling. Its very beautiful, serene temple alongside rangit river, whose water is holy pure. You can sit alongside the river and enjoy its pristine beauty.

A must visit for Hindu pilgrims...there's a swayambhu lingam here and the temple is dedicated to lord Shiva's kirateshwar form...which is the bow user....a unique hanging bridge leads to the temple and there are multiple other temples along side the river bank....

Nice mandir, mythlogically holds a significance, more here there is a dharma sala, guruji's are nice and friendly. People over here are friendly.

Excellent place to visit. Both religiosity and nature coexist . This temple is an antique one and has existed since the days of Mahabharata since the priest told me the legend that it was third Pandava Arjuna who worshipped Lord Kirateshwar , pleased Him and received Pashupatastra which was a principal weapon in his armour.

We reached there on Maha Shiva Ratri and we offered milk and water along with fruits. A holy place along with a nice a view of Rangeet River. You have to cross a hanging bridge to reach out there and then there is a place to keep your shoes outside and just get into the temple 🙂 Some small shops are also there and their Maggie was just awesome 🤩

On the bank's of Rangit river just breathtaking views all around the temple. It's an ancient temple with a swayambhu shiv ling. The entrance to the temple is via a bridge......One can spend a wonderful time at the banks of Rangit river with crystal clear cold waters....A place worth the visit..
