Today we went to the Shakanbhari Devi temple here in Bengaluru. This temple is famous with the name Banashankari. While going through history it is known to me  that Shakambhari Devi is a Hindu Goddess originally Parvati Devi wife of Mahadev Shri Shambhoo Shankar and hence called as Shankari being wife of Shri Shankar God.
This temple which we visited today was built somewhere in 1800 to 1900, which at that time was in the forest. And hence locals started calling it the temple of the deity residing in the forest as van Devi. Van means forest...as the time lapsed , it became famous as Banashankari coz van means Ban means forest in Sanskrit. The idol of honour Banashankari Devi is said to be a replica of Shakambhari Devi at Badami in Karnataka State itself.
The area near the temple is famous with the name Banashankari.
The temple is situated (after the development of the forest area into the city over the time) in between Banashankari Metro station and Bus stand.
It's very easy to go there by auto, cab... Even if you go by your own vehicle, there is lot of space available for parking at temple side  and even at Metro station parking.
The temple area is huge and is having some  temples of other deity.
Mahaprasad is available till the time of temple closure.
All facilities like parking, wash rooms, and other necessities are available here.
I liked that the Mahaprasad is served in more than sufficient quantity in steel plates and it is expected and done by the bhakta to wash and clean their plates for using the same by next one.
Really enjoyed the premises having boon of sanctity, silence and what not....

One of my favorite temples in Bengaluru city. It's divine and powerful. I usually visit every Tuesday with my mom for the rahukala time from 3 to 4 pm, where they light diya at that time. It is very near to the metro and can be easily accessible. Plenty of parking spaces are there. Parking charges are also less.

Beside Banashankari busstop and metro. People lit diyas in lemon for aarthi, I had the chance to see 7:30 am abhishekam, it was amazing.
I'm so happy to visit this temple.
I used to see pics on Facebook now I had the chance to come from Hyderabad.
It was so peaceful early in the morning.

The temple is on the main road very near to banasankari bmtc bus stand and the metro station. The temple is moderately large and looks very good. The area gets the name because of this ammavaru inside. The temple is very crowded during dussehra days. Lord shiva lingam is also present inside the temple. Very good place to visit.

One of the best temples, everyday Anna prasada will be there. The best time to visit is on weekdays or Tuesday and Fridays.
Amavasya and poornima days are good and auspicious but the temple crowd will be too core..

A very beautiful and peaceful place to come and pray. It has Prasad (blessed food) where you can sit and eat under shade. (Please don't click picture inside, don't litter, wait for your turn when you're in a line and please be respectful!)

Very calm and devotional place in banashankari area. It is very near to Banashankari Metro station. This temple is said to be very powerful for the devotees who come here. Little bit crowd but u will get darshan in 10 minutes approx. Devotees light candles on lemons. Felt very blessed to come here. Also you can get lemons, fruits as well as vegetables outside the temple.

Let goddess Banashankari blessings be with all!! Temple is in the heart of the city and quite convenient to reach. Has metro connectivity a name and stop in itself if you take metro and 4mins walking distance is the bus stand and local autos are also very easily available.
Coming to the temple it's one of the oldest may be some centuries old, a huge space with a very good vibration. Goddess looks straight into your eyes, very powerful goddess and crowded on Tuesday and Friday rahukala time because it is believed to be auspicious time to offer lemon diyas to the diety. Sundays are also equally crowded.
Like all other temple the volutneers are full of attitude and influence works wonders.

One of the MUST visit places in Bengaluru. Banashankari amma has a great energy and vibes. The area itself flourishes. Lots of development and changes have come in the temple since our last visit.
Pray whole heartedly to her and it will happen. Every new year there is a simple Ratha festival, not to be missed. Lovely alankarams of Amman like Vegetable , fruits, flowers, haldi is done. Saree is also offered by devotees.
Free chappal stand is available out side the temple.
Car parking is available Rs.30 , Bike parking Rs. 10.

You do have Banashankari metro station very close.around 200mts.
Banashankari Busstand is also closer.

A blissful place. Do visit once at least. You find too many people on Tuesdays and Fridays. So you can avoid those days if you wanna have a peaceful darshana, and Sunday too. Do check the temple timings and go. I had been on the odd timing once and had to wait for an hour or so.

Located in Southern Bangalore, the Banashankari temple is one of the most popular places of worship in Bangalore City. Devoted to the goddess Banashankari, this temple is visited mostly during Rahukala time which is believed to be an unfavorable time as per Hindus. A visit here is believed to relieve people of the adverse fate as well as the hardships. The prayers to Goddess Banashankari are offered by lighting oil lamps in semi cut lemon peels, whose pulp is removed.Do visit this temple for an insight into Hindu religious faith and customs.
