I had the privilege of visiting the Varikkasseri Mana, a true testament to the cultural and architectural legacy of the Namboothiri families. The centuries-old history resonates in every corner, from the meticulously carved wooden beams to the locally sourced red stone that envelops the complex.

The poomugham serves as a grand entrance to the three-story building, where each room tells a story of the family's past. The intricate carvings on doors and windows are a testament to the craftsmanship that went into building this timeless structure.

As I explored the complex, the family temple dedicated to Shiva, Krishna, and Ayyappan left me in awe. The spiritual ambiance and the well-maintained surroundings reflected a deep connection to tradition.

It's fascinating to learn that Krishnan Thampuran, also known as Shilpi Thampuran, brought a touch of western architecture to this traditional setting. The long slender columns surrounding the portico showcase a blend of influences, creating a unique and captivating design.

During my visit, I couldn't help but appreciate the cinematic history associated with Varikkasseri Mana. Knowing that over 100 films, including iconic ones like Devasuram and Aaraam Thampuran, were shot here adds another layer to its charm.

Best example of Outstanding Kerala Architecture (Green Building)

The place is so good and exceptional. We really get the feel of walking through the movies we watched growing up. The place is small but there are many mamy photospots. The place is perfect fit for photography enthusiasts. It will be little crowded in weekends and weekdays are preferred if you need some privacy.

There is an entry fee of ₹ 30. And parking space is available inside. You can follow google map and reach the place. There is a small shop outside where you can get cool drinks and some snacks.

You can relive all those scenes from the movies… A good place to visit and see the actual … Ofcourse the Art directors transforms the place to suit the movies, but it’s still worth the visit… The ticket costs only Rs30 per head…

Varikkassery Mana is situated about four km from. Italian in Palakkad district of Kerala. This one of the ancients in this part of India. This is situated in the middle of daddy field in Manhasset villegeq. As in every traditional homes all agriculture will be around the home. there is water source like we'll ponds etc. There will be placed for support staff, storage and even a temple. A lot of Malayalam films are shot here. Even today I saw at least three teams shooting in and around the house. It is a wonderful place to understand the past of keralites. In the era of nuclear families such huge houses are being demolished making way for a number of small homes.........

A well known shooting spot with a limited access for public, but worth visiting

An hour to an hour and a half can be well spent here. You can basically see the architecture of houses from the old times and it's definitely worth the time.

One of must visit place in Ottapalam, Palakkad.
it's one of the oldest traditional aristocratic Namboothiri family houses on a plot of land measuring approximately 4 acres.

Please make sure to check whether its open or not. Sometimes it will be closed due to some shooting.

Good place to visit with family and friends. You will go through some malayalam movies when you see this mana.
When we visited on a weekend,it was totally crowded and we couldn't take many photos. Authorities, please maintain the Mana well. Lot of parking space available.

The "filmy" place!! A must go to walk the path of many Malayalam movie heroes and heroines. The brilliant architecture of ancient times and a whole lot of nostalgia.

A truly nostalgic place. While we walk through the Mana scores of classic Malayalam movies will flash through our memories. Really sad that it is not properly maintained. Preferably visit during weekdays early morning by 9.00 am as the place will almost be empty. You feel amazingly calm and relaxed inside.
