Gandhi National Memorial Society

This is in Aga khan palace. Great to see the memorial is preserving Gandhi and his ideology. He was house arrested here for two years. It seems kasturba left to her abode here. Ash from Gandhi's cremation is kept here in a samadhi of Gandhi as memorial along with kasturba's. The photos and gallery has very good detail of the history. It would be good if government encourages local guides who are still alive from the freedom struggle times.

Well managed and maintained aga khan palace till now which highlighted the life of mahatma Gandhiji during his imprisonment out there along with his wife and his friend…Garden is also well maintained and beautiful…in the same compound in one corner situated is the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi

I visit last sunday. Crowde are not at afternoon but after 4 pm people are coming at garden. Its place of M. Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi.

Need to buy ticket from Archelogical society of India. You can find the scanner at the entrance. Ticket price = Rs. 20 per person(Only online tickets available).
Typically it will take 3 hours to complete all galleries since we have to read the history which was written on each gallery..
Best place to bring young kids to know the history of Gandhiji. Only Ground floor allowed to visit
Facilities : Free parking, Toilets and drinking water(Toilets are neat and clean)

The palace was built by Aga khan || and donated by Karim Aga khan IV to Gandhi memorial society.
Tombs of Kasturba and Mahadev desai are here. Nice historical place having sculpture, old photographs and paintings releated to Gandhi's life.
The area has greenary and there is office of khadi gramodyog at backside. It charges ₹25 for adult as entry fees

Mahatma Gandhiji and his wife Kasturbaji were interned in this palace in 1942 after the declaration of the '"Quit India Resolution"'.

He was accompanied by Miraben, Shri. Pyarelal Nayar, Smt. Sarojini Naidu, Dr. Sushila Nayar and his personal secretary , Shri.Mahadevbhai Desai.

🔰10 August 1942 :- Gandhiji and his colleagues were brought here from Bombay (Mumbai)

🔰15 August 1942 :- Shri.Mahadevbhai Desai died of heart attack.

🔰26 January 1943 :- Gandhiji hoisted the Congress flag at the premises.

🔰19 March 1943 :- Smt.Sarojini Naidu was released because of ill health.

🔰26 January 1944 :- Gandhiji hoisted the Congress flag at the premises.

🔰22 February 1944 :- "Mahashivratri" Kasturba breathed her last after a prolonged illness.

🔰06 May 1944 :- Gandhiji and his colleagues were released from Agakhan Palace.

well maintained and managed ...great for school students ,kids and family visit.

Historic museum depicting some phases of Mahatma Gandhi's life and is also one of the popular places in Pune to have a visit. Schools too conduct picnics for their students for knowing about the history of modern India. Cleanliness is superbly maintained.

Gandhi National Memorial Society located in Aga Khan Palace, one 'of Pune's most popular tourist destinations the museum is dedicated to the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi in the 1930s.The Aga Khan Palace is National monument of India's freedom movement. The Gandhi National memorial society has been trying to make this place a living memorial to Ba & Bapu by organizing a number of activities throughout the year.

This palace was build by Agakhan to support the poor people who were starving in the draught in 17th century. Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai were imprisoned in thi palace by Britishers. Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai died here in imprisonment. Their Samadhi are nearby the palace in the same compound. Ash of Mahtma Gandhiji is also buried near Samadhi of kastirba.

Good and silence place for visit

Very nice place ....If you were in Pune must visit... Gandhiji's old memories were there and a pretty good garden too...Lunch time is 12:30 to 1:30..

One of the serine place to be near truth and compassion.

Great place to be. Learnt a lot about the great baapu. Children can learn a lot here. Well maintained place. Greenery and peace will make you fall in love with it.
