Here is where it all started!
Around 1895-1897 the Thakur family migrated from UP to Dharwad to escape the plague and Ram Ratan Singh Thakur started making Peda for a living. This was his house apparently and they used to make it in the house itself from Buffalo’s milk which is supposed to be thick. This Peda is now world renowned and has got multiple awards toto It’s name and a GI (Geological Identification) tag.
The taste is still better than the rest of the outlets in Dharwad with it’s milky taste and smooth texture.
The store only accepts cash and no other modes of transaction.
It’s sad to see it’s stature fall nowadays due to other brands who have better marketing, but believe me once you try this you won’t want anything else. A must try if you’re looking for an authentic Dharwad Peda.

Famous for Dharwad pedha. The original thakur pedha is a few kms from here, this is an outlet. Small shop, yet the sweets here are delicious, and we get good namkeen as well! If you're visiting Dharwad, you must drop in here to buy some snacks to your friends back home!

This and another one infront of it are both the Original and authentic Thakur Peda shop. You will get the original Dharwad Peda here. Finally found the original store, but to the surprise there are 2 original shop which were started by 2 different person from the same family and so the business is still maintained seperately. One shop sells in RED box and the other shop sells in WHITE box. Even though there are original shop, peda is no more prepared here, as there are now preparing in a factory and distributing to more than 20 branches in Dharwad itself, so there is no need of trying to find and visit these original shop to buy peda..!!! You will technically get the same peda in all the other authentic Thakur Peda franchisee shops.

Here I had purchased Famous Thakur Pedha, taste was awesome and now beside this shop opened another shop of his relatives but authentic Thakur Pedha sold here only.

A barely noticeable and not at all fancy looking shop. But peda here are something one should not miss if u are nearby.
Perfect melt in mouth texture, sweetness and aftertaste.
Not very fancy packaging and reasonable rate.
