Chulanur Peafowl Sanctuary

Nice small place. There is info about various tree. Location was confusing in Google map but we got the help from the locals there. Good people. The butterfly garden is small but it's fine.

This peafowl Sanctuary is located in chulannur in Palakkad district of Kerala ,India . Probably the only one India of this kind . Best time to visit early morning or in the evening so that you can see lots of peacock around this place . Better to visit with maximum two people . More you make noise the chance of watching the peacock will be less . Avoid carrying plastic items to the sanctuary when you are visits the place . Carry enough water and small snacks with you for your conception while you traveling to this place , because it’s all about lots of walking inside the park and there is no restaurant or coffee shop near by the sanctuary . Entry is free for the public to visit the sanctuary.

Peaceful and quiet place to explore..The ambience is amazing.However more attention is required as most people are unaware of its importance.

Went there to record a bunch of invertebrate observations for iNaturalist, and it didn't disappoint. Very cool atmosphere within the forest, and the thicker parts are even better!

Wonderful sanctuary with many peafowls. Clustered Bamboos are the main attracton. So ecofriendly. Lot of information can be gathered from each and every corner.

Nice place for people who love nature and its beauty

Mayiladumpara, popularly known as Choolannur Peafowl Sanctuary, is the only peacock shelter and is located in Palakkad district of Kerala. Spread over 500 hectares, to reach the sanctuary requires a trek through dense forests. However, once you reach the place you will be captivated by the radiant beauty of this kingly species. The area is well maintained and the best times to view these exotic birds are during dawn and dust.

This is not just another picnic spot for family outing. You will like this place if you are nature lover and be close to nature and enjoy it's timeless beauty. A place where you get to know details of Indian wild life. Once the registration formalities are over you are on your own. You can walk and enjoy the variety of plants, shrubs and trees of different kind. Since there is going to be a lot of walking involved, I recommend a walking shoes and some thing to drink and eat.

It was an unexpected visit to the place, chance to explore the nature. Chulanur Peafowl Sanctuary have been goodly maintained by kerala wildlife and forest department. Birdwatchers and natural lovers can have a good time in this sanctuary. Approx of 30+ birds can been seen in this place and have a butterfly park attached to this place

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more.

Temporarily closed. Officials said that they were rejuvenating the park for other activities such as trekking,camping,.. etc. So it will be closed for 2-3 months.

The place is filled with Peacocks, The only thing is they make a lot of noise so so make sure our voice is low or we wont get a chance to see them. Nice place full of nature.

Chulanur peacock santury is the best remote areas to spend the time with the loved ones,and has a real vibe and good atmosphere....tho i dont really care about the peacocks and birds but the place is awesome to spend...i had a good experience in there

Place is good but entry to the forest is prohibited since covid and the care taker dont know when gov will resume entry...

A nice place if u love nature. Take a booking from d govt and u get free food and accommodation. Overall nice ambience
