A great place for archaeology enthusiasts. Well-maintained museum. Children can know more about the history like the tools used in the ancient era, idols, agricultural and hunting tools, etc.

I really enjoyed this museum because it has some unique features and many of the displays are dated. There are stone carvings of 'writer with styles and book' and even a 'suicide' - things I haven't seen in India before! The info is interesting too, like noting some 'Hero Stones' commemorate even people who caught cattle theives! They also have displays of 15 types of soil in Wayanad.

Very informative. Must watch for students and those who are interested in knowing the history of the land with certain memorabilia. The collection of different soil types very useful. Spend some time their and feel the difference. Old musical instruments, kitchen utensils and the way history is being segregated... All good.

Fortunate to see this museum where you will find artifact's dating back to 8-9 BC. SIMPLY OUTSTANDING WORK BY THE KERALA GOVERNMENT in setting this up for the public and preserving ancient idols and sculptures.
This place is very small in size and you can spend max 1.5 hrs if you observe carefully. The entry charges are 20 for adults and 10 for kids along with other camera charges.
Each idol is a great work of art and dates back to centuries. You will find all Hindu god idols and sculptures which is preserved and kept here for display. Used maps and it was spot on!
Overall a lovely historical place!!!

Decent place to give an intro to the children about our ancient culture. Excavated stone sculpture and fishing techniques displayed well with a nominal entry fee. Has a well maintained rest room. Parking to be done on the main road in front of the heritage building

The Wayanad Heritage Museum or the Ambalavayal Heritage Museum is situated at Ambalavayal. We visited the Museum after our trip to the Edakkal Caves.
The museum is supposed to be one of the best maintained museums in Kerala and houses a rich collection of artefacts. It bears testimony to the fact that there had been an advanced civilisation which existed in the mountains of Wayanad earlier.

A small, quiet archeological museum of local tribal life at Wayanad district of Kerala. Fairly well maintained. Peaceful and nicely decorated. The view of the valley nearby from the first floor veranda of the museum is ethnic. Camera allowed inside the museum against a token amount. A must visit for ethnic site lovers.

Loved the whole place and management. Nice set-up with enough detailing of every artefacts, nice flooring, clean and neat place where, if you go in the evening where comparatively less visitors will be there, would be perfect.

At a distance of 11 km from Sulthan Bathery & 5 km from Edakkal Caves, 22 km from Kalpetta. This is one of the best heritage museums in Kerala. The museum houses fascinating items from tribal communities dating back to the second century AD. It has a rare collection of several ancient instruments & tribal artifacts like jewellery, hunting and fishing weapons, farming instruments, a fine collection of 14th - 16th century sculptures, etc. Ancient terra cottas, stone weapons and local art are also on display at the museum. The museum is spread in two levels with statues occupying lower level while the tribal artifacts are displayed in first level.
