This fort is a Dutch fort built on top of Gowa Kingdom. It is now a cultural and educational center, as well as a tourist destination. There are some buildings; museum, prayer room, parks, toilet, library that has old Dutch books, Prince Diponegoro jail, etc. The price ticket is 5 thousand rupiahs per person.

I visited this place and was amazed by the background history told by the guide. I suggest you to ask the tour guide to accompany your visit in this place. They will tell you everything and are very helpful.
There is La Galigo museum inside this fortress as well. The museum exhibit lots of things that will broaden your knowledge about Makassar for sure.

What does Makassar mean? Why was it called Ujung Pandang in the past? What is Bone? Gowa? La Galigo? Sure you can search the answers on Google. But it was very interesting to listen to the lively explanations from our guide, Pak Taufiq, and seeing some of the artefacts in person. You can tour the complex on your own and the entrance is free. But paying one of the registered tour guides would really pay off! We can recommend Pak Taufiq. He is long haired, very animated, and speaks Spanish. He'd be hard to miss!

One note though: just like many historical sites in Indonesia, the management did pretty well to maintain the exterior, but not so much in the interior. We can see things are started to deteriorate.

I visited this place with a friend lives in Makassar. This space exhibits the traditional language and culture of the region. Small booths are lined up in the field, and high school students around me visited here on the same day as me.

Historic building in Makasar, near from swiss bellhotel. You dont need to buy a ticket here. The building was still strong. Even though the visitor dont need to buy a ticket but this fort is very clean, neat and well organized. You can take photos here to perpetuates the history about this building.

The place is great. Unfortunately, there's unofficial charges at the front gate (not at the museum entrance). Inside, there's library and art museum which only to be paid once. Not all rooms are open for public. However, the exterior is beautiful, enough to illustrate the original design based from its' renovation. Information of the history are not much found, especially in English.

an old fort inherited from the Dutch and the Makassar sultanate. The museum is also good to visit. The most important point is that they succeeded in eliminating the illegal levies that previously existed and succeeded in making this place a good place to relax. When it's not crowded, this place is good for photo hunting.

There are many buildings I can't join to see a rooms 😅
Many places have been made part of their offices But no problem, 1 La Galigo museum can enter And pay for the ticket

There is 1 dark room when I tried to enter it was stuck 😂😂 it's funny enough to test my fears trying to read the photo paintings there

The air from the cool trees and the amazing view of the blue sky

*Tiket masuk awal gratis dan hanya menandatangani buku tamu
Terima kasih para guidenya sangat ramah dan bekerja keras melestarikan budaya Indonesia 🤗

one of the tour options in the middle of Makassar city, it is suitable for those of you who like history, but for those of you who come to take pictures I suggest to hire a guide because they already know a good photo spot from which angle.

This place initially called benteng ujung pandang and acquisited by Netherland in WW2 and change the name to fort Rotterdam. This is historical place that functioned as museum and official workplace at this moment. You will see a lot of old buildings and stone wall in the or fort. This fort is struggling to maintain its old form because there are a lot of vandalism, so they must repaint the wall, and install security device all over it.

This place is free, so get it a visit when you are around.

A historic place to learn South Sulawesi culture, particularly in the La Galigo Museum in the right and left side of the complex. On the first part, you can find diorama of Sawerigading adventure as been written in La Galigo Epos. While on the other side of the museum, you can see relics describing culture of South sulawesi people
