This stall has been around for a long time and is easily touted to be one of the most popular stall at Amoy. It used to be around $5/bowl but they have since increased the price to $6/bowl (which is still worth it considering the quality)

This will always be a good and hearty bowl of fish soup to me. The broth is rich and clean, and the fish slices are thick, fresh and succulent. The only downside is because of their immense popularity, the queue will often be 40mins on average during lunch hour!

If I’m ever craving fish soup, I make a trip down here because it’s one of the only places that can satisfy it with its thick fish slices and never-ending amount of fish that makes the whole experience very satisfying. While the aunties can be slightly scary at times and you have to pay in cash, I think the fish is so good that I just keep coming back, even though I might get scolded if I don’t order fast enough/ stutter when I order. Overall, 10/10 for fish soup lovers that love the fish more than the soup.

Tip for all: Make sure you know your order, prepare cash and show no weakness when ordering. $8 is your go-to. Eat with rice (need pay more) or chu mi fen (free).

First tried this on 26 December 2023 and ordered medium sliced fish porridge (S$7) [photos 1 to 3] and absolutely loved this! Sliced fish was substantial, fresh and meaty. Soup was wholesome but flavorful and there was dried sole fish too.

Was yearning for this and returned the next day 27 December 2023 for lunch where I ordered medium sliced fish bee hoon soup (S$7) [photos 5 & 6]. Interestingly, there wasn’t any dried sole fish.

Overall I prefer the sliced fish porridge. Totally understand why there’s always a long queue - because this is indeed delicious, fresh and substantial portion and cheap!

Queue is long and for good reason. Even with increase in price this year, for $6, pretty sure no where else comes close to the quality and quantity of this fish soup. Lady is loud as it can get very noisy during peak period. Collecting only cash payment in advance also helps to move the queue much faster. Lady is actually very nice and let me finish my own bowl before arranging to cook my takeaway orders (so it stays warm longer).

Generous serving; for $6.50, you get thick cuts of sliced fish that otherwise cost $8-10 at Maxwell for example. This is so rare to find nowadays… 😭

Style is heavy on peppers and fragrant chopped/fried garlic, similar to the original Arcade Fish Soup. (But Arcade usually sells out around 1:30-2pm, right?)

Expect to queue at least 25min! 2pm on Friday queue was 24min… btw this is always the longest queue at Amoy, got at least two other fish stalls okay

The best fish soup, with great value (a lot of fish), probably at least double anywhere else. Aunty is honestly super efficient and often misunderstood during the peak period as a lot of people haven't decided or didn't prepare.

Count your money in advance and have your order ready so that you don't disrupt the order flow! Even at peak it's at most a 30 minutes wait (12pm), while off peak is less than 10mins (2pm).

I've tried the other store on the weekend that's Michelin rated and it wasn't even as good as here. Sticking to here, ate over 10x here at least

Came this morning at 10.30 am and there was already a queue of about 30 people before me. The cooking started about 5 minutes later and the line move quickly.

The lady came down the line to take order and payment from about 8 to 10 people at a time. It's amazing that she doesn't need to take notes and yet she gets all the orders perfectly.

For $5, you get 7 slices of thick batang fish.
The fish is fresh and not fishy. The soup is clear but tasty. Value for money. This is definitely one of the best fish soup in Singapore.

Came at around 1:30pm on a Tuesday and the queue was snaking long, w about 25-30 people in front of me.

Took about 15mins to get my food so I would say the queue moves pretty fast.

I ordered a Medium sized sliced fish soup (SGD7). It came w 10 pieces of sliced fish in various sizes and thicknesses. The thinnest slice is still considerably thick.

I get why this stall is so popular. The fish slices were v fresh w no hint of fishiness, v 鲜甜.

I’d actually rate it a 4.5/5, -0.5 because the pepper and coriander added at the end overpowered the whole soup. Would request to opt out of them next time.

Super big chunks of fish slices. The soup is flavorful, and the fish is very fresh. The fish is marinated with salt, which makes it even tastier. Affordable price too. Long queue when I was there at 11am, weekday. Waited for almost an hour.

The queue is usually very long during peak hours (11.30 am to 1.30 pm) but it clears quite fast. So if you want to avoid the queue, avoid the peak hour timing. Took me less than 20 min to get my bowl of $7.50 medium size fish soup.

Think of what to eat and prepare your money in advance. The 2 aunties don’t have much patience in dealing with mindless idiots / slow pokes / fussy eaters / queue hoggers / basically anyone who holds up the queue. This is effectiveness and efficiency. Everyone wants to get their food fast and those who drag are just wasting everyone’s time. You can’t add / change your orders cos it will hold up the queue. That’s why the 2 aunties are so impatient and rude. I have not encountered any rude behaviour from them and find them to be friendly.

Basically, food is cheap and good. Judging from the the length of the queue you will know it straight and don’t need any more recommendations. Fish is tender and plentiful and soup is tasty. You can add extra fish roe if they have stock.

Fish slice bee hoon ($7 for medium) - Large portion of fresh, thick fish slices, cooked just right.

Has easily the longest queue at the hawker centre. Lady who usually takes the orders has a phenomenal memory - able to remember over 30 orders without writing them down and can remember what you usually order even if you don’t come often and are masked up. But she may be upset if you’re not ready to make payment when placing your order.

The queue moves faster than it looks.

Came on friday noon during the peak of lunch, queue time was about 40 minutes (there were around 30-40 of us in the queue)

Ordered the $7 portion (they had $5, $7, $9) and there’s easily 10-15 thick slices of fish. Soup is clear and tastes great. Just like all other reviews, the popularity comes frm the generosity in the amount of fish slices that come with it.

Also prepare your order and cash in advance, the aunty may take orders in advance to everyone in the queue. Queue moves relatively quickly though! Whether it’s worth the wait - i think it is, but to each its own!

Fresh and generous amount of fish compared to the price. Lunch time normally long queue but moving pretty fast. Please make sure cash is ready before Lady boss is taking your order. Although they set so many rules like no extra bowl, cash only etc, it is fair enough for them to facing many customers and whole shop is running by 4 middle aged n elderly. I used to order either medium or large worth it to Q for 15-20 min. 😅.

Han Kee Fish Soup needs no introduction.
To anyone who wants to try the best fish soup in SG, you’ve got to put this 1st in the list.

Personally, what won me over is their thick cut of fish slices and their fish head soup. The stock of the soup is superb.

The fish soup is one of the best/ otherwise Best in Amoy street hawker centre. Soup is of a simpler bland taste as compared other stalls famous stalls like Piao Ji. So if you are after a "Cleaner" fish soup with HUGE chunks of fish, go for Han Kee. Beware: Lines of up to 30 people form easily during lunch time on weekdays. Try to go early at 1030am or after 1.45pm.

Look at those chunks of fish, just for $5...

Thick and super fresh fish slices and the medium portion is unbelievable at $7.50 (including 0.50 for rice). While it has a long queue, service was quick and the lady that took the orders had an incredible memory. A heartwarming bowl of fish soup on a rainy day.

My all-time favourite fish soup stall! The fish is always fresh, chunky, and tasty. The soup is clear and simple. The price is decent for the amount of fish given. Beware of the really long queue during peak lunch hours!

I’ve been a fan since a friend introduced this to me in 2015. Generous amount of succulent fish, flavorful soup, and delicious bee hoon. Well worth the queue each time. The auntie is so polite and cheerful. How she remembers each order without writing down notes is still a mystery.

This is one of my favorite food stalls. In comparison to Sliced Fish Beehoon, I prefer their Sliced Fish Porridge. Very fresh sliced fish, and the texture is so good that I can't think of anywhere else that comes close.

To be honest, their attitude isn't great, but that's fine with me.

Please keep in mind that if you dine in with a takeaway order, you may have to collect your takeaway order after your dine in. Come early to avoid the lunch crowd.

Note: They will be closed from 9th Jan to 31st Jan 2023.
