Villa Lanterna

We had a nine night stay in this beautiful place. The staff are so lovely and welcoming. Doris and Ivana at reception did everything they could to make our stay memorable. The room was tidied every day and fresh towels were also left every day. The shuttle bus into Dubrovnik goes three times a day and they come and pick you back up , for not a lot of money. I would definitely go there again

Everything about Villa Lanterna is spot on. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Only down-side is no lifts, but we knew about that in advance. If you are looking for a great, privately-run hotel,that is a bit off the beaten track (9km from the Old City of Dubrovnik) then this is for you.

Have just returned from a fabulous 10 days stay at Villa Lanterna - we had two one bed apartments, both with balconies overlooking the pool. The rooms and swimming pool were spotlessly clean. Our towels, bathmat and tea-towels were changed daily as well as our bins being emptied. Cannot fault the hospitality from Doris, Ivana and the team, they all went out of their way to look after us and recommend places to visit, arranging transport if required. The daily free shuttle bus to the supermarket is a real bonus and this along with the 3 journeys to the Old Town (cost 135 kunas one way for 6 of us) meant we didn't really need to hire a car.
The location is quiet with a small shingle beach about 50 yards from the hotel and there are 3 restaurants (including the one attached to the hotel) where you can eat. We went on a boat trip to the Elaphiti Islands which I would thoroughly recommend as the boat picked us up from the local beach rather than us having to get into Dubrovnik. WE found it was also cheaper to book through the hotel than through the tour operator.
Other excursions we enjoyed were the cable car in Dubrovnik (fantastic views), City Walls tour (we went later in the day as recommended by other reviewers to avoid the cruise ship passengers and the heat!), Kayak tour around Lokrum Island and paddleboarding (from local beach).
All in all, a great first holiday in Croatia and would definitely return to Villa Lanterna.

Stayed here last week, was a great stay. Clean room and very friendly and kind staff (especially Doris, Ivana and Zoran). We were provided with lots of information from the staff about dubrovnik and how to get around. Hotel runs a shuttle bus that drops you near dubrovnik old town 3 times a day for a small price. It took us about 10 minutes to walk from the drop off place to the old town. Hotel also offers a shuttle too and from the airport for a reasonable price.
Hotel is right by the beach in Zaton bay. Being a bit away from the old town meant that the beach was nice as it wasnt too over crowded.
Hotel has a deal with the next door resturant to provide food if you opt for half board/breakfast included. Food was really good. Not like your usual hotel included buffet- we got a menu to choose from and got a 3 course restaurant meal for dinner. For breakfast we were given bread with some spreads, fruit, yogurt and then eggs cooked however we wanted.
Really can't complain about anything but will say as a word of warning if you do opt for half board, your evening drinks are not included. I assumed being half board that would also include one soft drink along with our meal however found out at the end this wasn't the case. Although still overall everything was great value for money. Would recomend and would stay again.

We had an excellent week-long stay at VL! The staff were so lovely and i’d like to say we became friends during our visit! They did everything they could to help and make your stay more enjoyable!
The room was nice and clean with everything you need, and the frequent transfers to the old city in dubrovnik made things very easy!
10/10 would stay again!

Stayed here in 2018 and really enjoyed ourselves. Its quiet but within easy reach of Dubrovnik if you want the night life. The owners were very friendly and the food was amazing. We very rarely revisit a hotel or resort so it speaks volumes that we have booked for 2021, only 399 days to go.

Newly refurbished, spotlessly clean , towels changed and beds made when you return from breakfast. Great powerful showers. Wonderful food, freshly cooked and served, but what made this holiday for us was Maja, Mirko and the family and staff. We have never received a welcome like this when we arrived and the extra special way in which all their guests were treated. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. This hotel and restaurant is an absolute gem and the area is so beautiful especially at night when the lights are reflected in the bay.

Villa Lanterna met my expectations and more. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the accommodation was pleasantly comfortable and modern. We got a room with a balcony and view to die for.

Our stay at this villa was just perfect. Rooms spotless and the food really good quality staff really helpful and work so hard. We would be happy to stay again without hesitation hope to return in the future

We spent 3 days here, lovely little corner of Croatia. Only 10k from Dubrovnik. If you just fancy relaxing on the beach the local cove is absolutely fine.

Just returned from11 nights at villa lanterna what a great find merca and family are the friendliest people we have ever stayed with as was Miranda on receptionrooms were spotless were half board and choice was very good had meal off ala carte menu for our wedding anniversary can see why its one of the best restaurants to top it all mercas mother inlaw made us a beautiful cake would definitely go back one day just to see merca and his wonderful family thank u for a wonderful holiday Brian @ivyxx

Small friendly hotel in beautiful location, attached to a superb restaurant. Very comfortable with good air con and most importantly fantastic people.
