Fascinating and unevitable part of the city. The basilica has memories from over the last 1500-1600 years which is amazing! The Roman mosaics, part of the ancient christianity, the enterieur and the exhibition are also superworthy! It is worth to allocate at least 1-2 hours to the visit! Do not miss!

Basilica di Sant'Eufresia a Parenzo
Ancient Byzantine Basilica in Parenzo dating to the early Christian church with foundations from the 4th century A.D.

Parenzo is an Italian speaking city in Istria, now part of Croatia.

Unbelievable historic and religious complex that is still preserved almost exactly as it was in the 6th century! Beautiful mosaics and statue carvings. It is set right against the town walls overlooking the glittering Adriatic waters! Truly a well deserved UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the mosaics go back to the 4th century and you can see the ancient Roman walls that connect to the structure. The main building that is currently a museum and place of worship is an almost complete 6th century building with just minor updates. It really is like stepping back in time! Tickets are 10 euros and you can go through on your own or pay extra for an audioguide. The signs are in English, Italian and Spanish as well as Croatian. It was not very crowded at all when I went on a Monday afternoon in late June.

One more beautiful and very interesting place to participate. It is full of history and really awesome. Porec itself is very ancient city, and basalica is the core. Amazing architecture, great exhibition. With no doubt, it is mandatory to see. It would be no so interesting for small children, but anyway there are a lot of space and kids will be happy enough. No beverages or snacks inside, be ready. And one more good point, there are not so hot as outside, and it is extra bonus to go there.

Once you have paid the entrance fee it will become quite clear to you why this Basilica was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. It shows the early Byzantine style and it is in very good shape considering how old it is. If you are planning to visit Poreč or a nearby place, I would say that this Basilica should top your list!

Nice 2nd century church complex that is under UNESCO world heritage.
It's well organised inside to make your own tour and definitely climb the Bell Tower for a magnificent view of the city.

This is a must see if you are anywhere close to Porec. Spectacular and historically such an important piece of European culture. Amazingly well preserved. Not a particularly crowded venue! Not expensive! It's beautiful. I could have stayed in that basilica all day and I am definitely not an art buff or religious.
May be the highlight of my trip through France, Italy, Spain and Croatia.

Very old church from the byzantine period of time located in Poreč. The scripts are amazing. Part of the church was destroyed in the earthquake few centuries ago. The church is well preserved and in a good shape. In the church complex there is also a museum and exhibition. Fee has to be paid.

Ancient basilica from the 4th century, also a UNESCO Heritage Site. It's open for visitors from 9 to 18, but unfortunately closed on Sundays. Entrance fee is 50 kuna.
Usually busy, so it's better to come here in the morning. Masses are also held here, occasionally.

The Euphrasian Basilica is a complex of the basilica itself, a sacristy, a baptistery and the bell tower. It was built in the sixth century. Whole place is rather big and you can pay a ticket to see inside of it. From the bell tower, there is a beautiful view of Poreč and surrounding area.

Enjoyed a nice little walk through the Basilica. For someone with a keen interest in mosaics, it's worth it. Also going in for a view from the top of the bell tower is well worth it. Might be nice to be up there when the bells ring at 12:00. We started walking around and heard them as we arrived. They have their own wine here too. Looking forward to trying the two we bought.

I really loved this place. Overall historical atmosphere is great here and you can learn a lot just by looking at what this place. It was built in 6th century (well, in 4th if you don't take into account that it was rebuild practically from scratch) and you can really feel the connection with something older than you. It costs 50 HRK per ticket per adult and it is absolutely worth it. If you come to Porec then it is one thing that you absolutely have to see.
Also - glorious sight from the top of the belfry.

This is probably the most important Christian monument in Istria, or in Croatia. Dating back to the late Roman antiquity, and the early Byzantine Empire under Justinian (6th cent. AD), this place looks quite like Ravenna in Italy. No wonder they have entangled history with many similarities in their mosaic art and architecture. The view from the bell tower over the city is also fascinating.

It's simply astonishing to think this all was built when it was and still leaves one in awe... The visiting times on the internet however were wrong, which made us came just under half an hour before the closing time but the staff was kind enough to eait an additional half an hour for us to see everything.

One of the oldest well maintained churches in Europe (roman byzantine-Greek orgin). It futures mosaics, stucco and allot of art. Well worth the entry fee. The view from the Bell Tower is amazing 👏🏼.
PS make a visit to Porec shore on your way back to the central busstation. Its free and quite. No need to pay for nasty beach beds.
