Way way way better than expected. Set in a beautiful river canyon, this sanctuary and hatchery boasts very nice birds in a super nice layout. Seems thoughtful and well planned start to finish. Workers all very friendly. Felt very good about spending money here while in Copan Ruinas. Very informative with many infographics to let you know what is what. Recommend for sure.

Well worth the visit. Beautiful location with aviaries set amongst tropical jungle. Also has free roaming scarlet macaws flying around. Well worth the 240 limpira entry.

Absolutely worth the time and money to visit especially if you are an animal lover! We had a wonderful time wandering among the birds and learning all about the wonderful work that is being done to revitalize the native bird population of Copan.

Such a neat place, and a sanctuary as well! You can learn a lot from the staff and all the signs... Nice walk through the forest, about 80+ birds, and even a few in an open courtyard for photos. Great coffee too!

This place is awesome. You walk through a forest like atmosphere that allows you to see as well as interact with various tropical birds including macaws and toucans. You even get to hold them and take pictures. Definitely worth it to go to

I fell in love with this place! There are so many macaws flying around, as well as other cool birds! It’s a cool oasis wedged in between some hills, with a small river going through it. You could spend hours here just relaxing and living your best life.

They really care about the birds. Taking care of them. The park was good and proper. The staff is well educated and want to tell you everything about their job and the birds. Beautifull plants and the enviroment is also amazing.

We marveled at all the birds and how well they are thriving. Signs in English and Spanish answered our questions and taught us about the many interesting birds. We loved the beautiful and relaxing setting. The ticket allowed us free entrance for three days. We went back again to enjoy the birds before leaving Copán.

If you can only do one thing in Copan Ruinas please come here. It’s the most incredible thing and one of the best days of our whole lives. They save birds and have a breeding program for Macaws. They also feed the wild birds at 12pm. There are lots of amazing wild birds here including parrots. The staff are incredible so kind and helpful. Huge shout out to Paola for everything she did for us 💜

This is one of my most favorite places on the planet. The macaw is a glorious bird and the work done here is just amazing. Go see some awesome birds up close. Be sure to buy some bird cookies to feed them from your hand.

As an added bonus, take a swimsuit and towel. They recently added a great little swimming hole on the river. If you pack a lunch, your trip could easily be 4 or 5 hours.

They help to preserve the macaws in the valley. The macaws make Copan a very special place so it's good to have people looking after. The location is very nice, next to the river and in-between a lot of nature.

If you're visiting Copan and don't visit "Parque de Aves" you'll be missing out. Here, you'll see a wide variety of different birds in cages and also outside. The Scarlet Macaw roams around by the dozen in the trees above. It's a beautiful site to see.

A must see when coming to Copan. Its amazing to see macaws flying free around town thanks to this amazing bird park. I hope that it can be multiplied in other regions for the conservation and education of Honduran people. Please stop and contribute to this amazing conservation project. You wont regret it!

Macaw Mountain is an absolute must-see while you are visiting copan!

We took the tour that they offer and the woman was bilingual which helped both my husband and my specific species related questions.

There is a space where you can go swimming in the river, so if that sounds like something that would interest you definitely bring your swimsuits. They are extremely family friendly with a restaurant area and were very helpful to get a Tuk Tuk back to the central square.

At first it looked a little bit boring but give it a chance. There are a lot of species of birds to see. The scarlet macaw is the highlight and pretty much the point of the whole sanctuary. The tucan walk through cage was amazing and the end where you hold three parrots and take a pic. I would recommend you sit in the outdoor terrace of the café and you'll see tucans and parrots come for food in the adjacent food trays. Beautiful site to see. I'm a city boy but I appreciate nature (not enough to go camping) so I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates but doesn't want to be entangled in nature.

Great park with lots of bird species. Remembering that these birds are cared for in the best environment and conservation they can be is very important. Staff were also lovely and we had a great interactive experience holding 3 beautiful macaws
