Alice Guesthouse & Restaurant

Paradise, we loved it here! It's a jungle retreat with easy living. Surrounded by nature, stunning flora and awesome colourful birds that you could sit and watch all day. Saw a few monkeys and can hear them in the far off jungle!

Nathalie and Dimitri are so awesome - I unfortunately got sick and Nathalie was incredible in sorting a call-out medic within an hour, and helping to get me treated properly, she really went above and beyond and we are so grateful and lucky. Incredible, caring couple - and it's reflected in their beautiful place.

The restaurant food is really great, enough variety but specialised with great flavours. Smoothies are so lovely! The dorm rooms were very cool, open air so you're connected with nature but still comfortable and protected from insects, hot shower, and amazing price!! The whole place is just stunning and perfect to relax in away from the crowds and noise! Also perfect location for tikal - we got a shuttle to and from the center of town for 30q pp each way.

10/10 recommended!

We liked our stay at Alice Guesthouse really much!
The yellow bungalow was really nice and comfortable. You can go swimming in the lake and watch the beautiful sunset from their pier. In the mornings and evenings you can hear the howler monkeys.
The restaurant is also really good and has a great service.
If you are thinking about staying in a quieter place than Flores you should definitely come here.

The place was really lovely, relaxing space and beautiful surroundings. The dorms were open to the elements and could hear the howler monkeys. The staff were really friendly and helpful and we loved the banoffee on the menu! Only downside is that there is one shower between all accommodations but not a problem for us.

I would give 6 stars if I could. I booked one night but ended up staying three. Excellent food, friendly staff, great quiet location. It's a bit difficult to find, look for the green Alice sign.
There's massage, horseback riding and a tattoo shop. Good WiFi.

My family and I stayed here for three nights and it was a great experience. The property is very well maintained and the landscaping is beautiful. Alice is a very kind host and the food is excellent. The staff was able to help us book a trip to Tikal and advise us on how to get to Belize. Early one morning a troop of howler monkey passed by. If your going to Tikal this is a great option and El Remate is a quiet and safe town. I will definitely stay here again next time we visit.

my favourite hostel so far in a month of travelling - the staff are beyond helpful, the beds are comfortable and cosy, the food at the restaurant is fantastic, and the local area is perfect for relaxing. So many great activities offered through the hostel as well, including horseriding and sunset paddleboard yoga. Cant recommend this place enough.

Backpackers Jungle Dream-house! The owners are French and super welcoming. The food was delicious and unexpected to find in the jungle! We stayed one night and loved it here. 10/10 would recommend while traveling to Tikal National Park. They arranged a shuttle to the park in the morning and were helpful in giving information to get back to Flores for our hike. Ask if you need anything because these people are good.

This is inexpensive FINE DINING! This place is easily one of my favorite restaurants in my 4 months all around Mexico & Guatemala. A lot of restaurants taste amateurish & even nice restaurants don’t have ‘it.’ I had the Mustard Chicken (French) & the Fajita Tacos & both were amazing. I live in LA, which has great food & this is one of, if not the only restaurant that had that ‘it’ factor for me so far, plus the people here are super warm & generous & the ambience is very cool.

Awesome place! The owners are super nice and welcoming. The place is beautiful, charming and relaxing and just near the lake. The rooms are clean and comfy. The food is a little bit expensive but worth the price if you're craving good European style food 🤤. Would definitely have stayed longer if i didn't booked plane tickets beforehand...

Great place, really liked the set up with attentive helpful owner and staff next to a lovely lake in a great part of the country.

This place was like a backpacker’s jungle oasis. Super chill vibe, beautiful property, hammocks, well designed and maintained facilities, and a really great restaurant on site. They were able to make us vegan pasta with pesto and they offered a really awesome Tikal to-go picnic that was vegan as is. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!

Absolutely beautiful spot, I would highly recommend! Stayed in a 6 person dorm which was really clean & comfortable. The shared shower is amazing! Lovely hammocks and places to chill out in the grounds of the guest house. Good food in the restaurant too & lovely friendly people who run it.

Lovely place, double beds in the dorm room! Laundry took 3 days and came back still a bit damp, something to be aware of if you are on a strict schedule. Drinking water available and nice hot shower. There are forest hikes nearby which I found out about too late but don't miss if you go! I saw a howler monkey from the guesthouse, very cool. The managers are lovely and helpful.

We stayed here for 3 nights and this place is just what we needed. Lovely place to stay with outdoor showers that have hot water if you want to. The restaurant is very good and so is the Staff. The road up is a bit tricky so we decided to leave our race down and walk up. But they told me the road should get better soon.
Oh and make sure you go to the pier at the lake during sunset!

Unique location and beautiful grounds. The site is near to the town of El Remate, easy access to Tikal, and a serene oasis in itself. The owners are incredibly friendly, and the cabin booked was perfect for our stay. Definitely a good price for what we got. The restaurant was great, and the close proximity to the jungle (howler monkeys, toucans, and crocodiles) added to the whole experience. I absolutely recommend Alice's, and hope to make a return trip myself. The drive is steep, and can be difficult to maneuver, but it is possible to park below the drive if it is too difficult for a given vehicle.

I wish I had time to stay longer! It's such a nice hostel and El Remate is beautiful. Definitely enjoyed it more than Flores. You can hear geckos in the roof at night and toucans and other animals outside during the day. They have a few pet dogs, one has 3 legs. The shower is the best I've had in my 3 months in Guatemala, high pressure and hot. The dorm beds below have a very low ceiling, I hit my head really hard a few times and had to take pain medicine. The ladder also is a hazard, I hit my shoulders a few times on that. Definitely make sure you stay hunched over while going to/from the bed if you're on the bottom. Beautiful area with lots of hammocks and places to relax. Chess games and a book exchange.

Lovely place! Beautiful place with very nice people. I had individual room with a hamac in my balcony. Shower by night under the stars is incredible (with HOT water). It look like paradise

Such a lovely oasis in El Remate. The owners were very kind and welcoming. The accommodation was better than expected. We planned on eating at a few places but the food was so good you didn’t need to go anywhere else. Would highly recommend!

Best guesthouse near to flores. the huts and toilets were so clean! its in a nice jungle, its near to the lake, it has a nice restaurant and even a pentanque place!. the sunsets at the lake are amazing. natalie and dimitri helped us with everything, they are very helpful. i would stay there anytime again.
