Couldn’t be happier with our choice to stay here as a home base to visit Tikal…only ~45 minutes away. They arranged a superb guide for a half day visit. After 3 days I felt like I’d been on vacation for a week. The hospitality was superb and the all the staff were so warm and friendly. The food…almost every dish…blew us away. Their guacamole was the addictive. The dock on the lake was reminiscent of summers at home but then walking back into a delightful jungle to our tropical bungalow with monkeys and birds along the path and up the funicular made it such a unique experience. Oh and the temezcal (dry sauna) and massages to the sound of the jungle really put the relaxation over the top.

An excellent place to stay in Peten, surrounded by nature. Very attentive service, rooms have everything you need and great vegetarian options on the menus. The lake was the best part, so nice to swim in, they also have paddle boards and kayaks you can use.

Stayed here for a few nights as a romantic getaway with my girlfriend. Would highly recommend the temezcal and a swim in the lake afterwards to start your day Judith was very well versed with the amenities of the property and gave us a warm reception upon arrival. Carlos was our primary server at the restaurant during our stay. He was very prompt and more than accommodating with our requests. Carlos made sure our Sergio was our driver to Tikal. He got us to our destinations promptly and safely. Overall, our stay was an amazing experience and look forward to staying here again.

We came here because we visited the other Coppola resorts in Belize, and loved them! La Lancha 100% lives up to the standards. The restaurant has a great selection of delicious, authentic, fresh Guatemalan food. The service at the restaurant and at the whole hotel is fabulous.

I love how the hotel is on lake Peten. It is the most beautiful lake in the world and the water is very warm!

The excursions offered are very well run (with the exception of a kind of weird, unprofessional taxi after a boat ride to the airport). The boat service is very good and their guides are kind and knowledgeable.

Most of the staff are from the local area, so the hotel is supporting the local economy in a great way.

In summary, if you plan to visit Guatemala, (especially Tikal) this would be the place to stay. It is fun, small, intimate, authentic, and beautiful. I loved my experience.

Only 45 minutes from the Airport and also Tikal, it is a great location to visit the ancient Mayan ruins.

This is definitely a special Hotel. You are in the middle of the rainforest with howler monkeys and tree frogs.

We arrived with a warm welcome from Evelyn at the reception.

The funicular to the Lake and the new guest villas are a wonderful addition!

We loved it!!! Highly recommended place to stay for visiting Tikal. Located at the hillside to Lago Peten Itza , which itself is worth a visit . Lovely warm, clear water. And the jetty from the hotel is also very beautiful. You can have a kanu and paddle.... Or just swim in the water. The casitas are pretty functional, but you have everything you need. Air-conditioning, a fan, fridge including mini bar, hairdryer. A nice terrace in front. You always have two rainforest casitas in one building. And the terrace is only devided through a curtain. That might bother someone. Couse you hear might hear your neighbours. Very good breakfast and dinner. The Ceviche is a blast!!! At sunset, they start lighting lots of candles. Looks so warm and cosy. Nice variety of Coppola s wines. Very friendly stuff. Unfortunately we stayed only two nights. But we had to go on to Blancaneaux Lodge.... 😬

I stayed hhere a couple years ago, but I've procrastinated leaving a review.

Pros:

The location is good; it's built onto a sort of jungle valley overlooking a lake. It is also close to the ruins of Tikal, and it's a great relaxing spot after spending a day trudging through the jungle and climbing pyramids.

The service was excellent; there were very few employees, but they did they jobs efficiently. As they say, the best kind of service is the one you don't notice too much.

The food was great too; we had a typical guatemalan "plato chapín", which is like a tutorial to Guatemalan cooking and something you really should eat at least once if you visit this country, and fresh fish for dinner; it was all excellent.

The lake is not really part of the hotel, but it is magnificent; unlike most lakes in Guatemala, this one is clean. I wouldn't drink out of it, of course, but we took a few of the hotel's rafts (which were FREE, by the way), and we had a wonderful time rowing around.

Cons:

The WIFI in the rooms was a bit spotty; I found it worked normally in the bar, though.

The main buildings (a bar-restaurant, a few cabins that functioned as rooms, and a pier by the lake) are connected by a wood path with lots of stairs. If you or any of your loved ones require a wheelchair, you may not want to come here.

The hotel itself is located in the butt end of Guatemala, so arriving here is quite an adventure. The shortest route, starting from Guatemala city, is to take a flight to the Petén airport, then take a several-hour car ride through what feels less like a road and more like a pile of pebbles during a permanent earthquake. It's ridiculously bumpy.

The hotel can also be very pricey, as expected.

TL;DR If you want to see Tikal, this is the hotel for you. If you don't, but want to visit Guatemala anyways, this is one of two hotels where I haven't suffered from food poisoning or been chased by feral dogs, so I honestly can't recommend it enough.

We only spent two days here but I would have loved to spend longer. We had a beautiful room with two bathrooms, a large King bed and loving room and huge balcony. We were told the WiFi would only work will in the public areas however we never had a problem in our room. There is no television in the room but this is not a problem when you have such an amazing view and location. We were sometimes woken by spider monkeys throwing discarded food at our roof which was very funny. The food was great at breakfast lunch and dinner. They arranged some great tours to Tikal and Yaxha which included food and drinks. The pool and lake deck were great ways to unwind.

We were stranded at the airport after our car hire failed to eventuate and the hotel were very helpful by arranging transport at last minute.

The drive to the hotel is very bumpy so be prepared.

I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

A treasure worth every dime with the best high-end service I have ever experienced. Loved spending time in heavenly jungle-luxury at La Lancha during our honeymoon. Stay at least 4 nights, you won’t regret it.

That feeling of relaxation you get, when all your needs are pre-empted. That is what you came on holiday for.

Beautiful location on the side of the lake, with a wonderful feeling of isolation, yet only an hour to Tikal for your day trips.

Highlight of our trip to Guatemala.

Absolutely amazing hotel, a truly 5-star experience! Staff are incredible and go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. From the general manager, front desk assistants and the restaurant waiters, chefs and everyone else in the hotel. Outstanding customer service seems to be their motto. The facilities are stunning, and their location is unbeatable. This is a destination experience! The hotel organized a tour to Tikal for us and we could not have asked for a better service. The transportation logistics, and our tour guide were top-notch, we were stunned by the beauty all around Tikal National Park. What a great getaway we just had!
