My first visit was for a coffee and I just had to have a fat sausage roll with salad. Superb quiet river location, friendly and attentive owner and just heaven. I have to go for a meal soon

We had such a lovely time. A place we wanted to visit for a while now - definitely worth the effort. This sweet little riverside cafe, serving basics such as tea, coffee, cakes sarnies and sausage rolls also offers lovely Thai curries for lunch. You can find this cafe down a bumpy track which takes you over the railway line and along the side of the wonderful Thorpe Marsh Norfolk Wildlife Trust site. Carry on, don't give up! and you will eventually reach the river and the wonderful cafe. Highly recommended. You can also take a little ferry across the river to Whittlingham Country Park if you fancy. Great for children, grannies, dogs and for impressing visitors! Clare and Jim

…what a fabulous cafe!!
Right on the river bank with glorious views. Such friendly and efficient staff ~ very warm and welcoming. As for the food…absolutely delicious! Excellent coffee ~ served in kooky chinaware! Had a really lovely relaxed atmosphere. Very dog friendly too! 💯 percent recommend and will absolutely return!

So annoyed I only discovered this today as it will only be open for two more weekends before shutting for winter until next Easter. What a gorgeous place! Drive down a track and over a railway line to get here and you will be rewarded with tables on decking looking out over a beautiful stretch of river where you may be lucky enough to see a kingfisher. Great choice of homemade produce including vegan or sausage rolls and a good choice of cakes. However, for me the best things were the Thai dishes of the day (one with meat, one without) which change daily and are made by Jaa, the friendly Thai owner. Both were absolutely delicious. Portions were large and what a bargain at £7.50. Most of the customers appeared to have been before and I can understand why as we aim to return next week to try another offering.
Update April 24: Now open again after the winter and Jaa has expanded her menu, see attached photo.

It was a pleasure to visit this beautiful gem by the water. The black dog Jet got us all fallen in love with him, as he gave a paw in exchange for a treat (which was a sausage roll from the cafe). The ferry ride was very relaxed and friendly. Highly recommended to everyone!

Gorgeous place by the river, a real hidden gem.
Amazing coffee, the sort that actually tastes of coffee not milk.
Serves Thai food too, we didn't try on this occasion however it smelt devine.
Nice outside seating area with ample tables and chairs.
Dog friendly.
Has a ferry too, which takes you across the river.
Lovely welcoming staff, which makes all the difference.

We will be back for sure and highly recommend others to come and try it out too!

Well worth a visit to this perfectly located riverside café. The warm welcome from the staff was great, as was the coffee and our breakfast! Jaa makes the cakes herself and also offers Thai food. It's an idyllic spot and a great place to enjoy the sounds of birdsong and to watch the boats go by.

A great way to explore Whitlingham from Thorpe without driving. We walked to the ferry down Bungalow Lane. Ferry takes you across to Whitlingham where it is a 20 minute stroll to Whitlingham barn Cafe. We walked around the great broad and back to catch the ferry.
Stephen is a great host and the iced coffee was amazing.

Just the peaceful retreat needed served with excellent coffee and a bacon roll
The lane to it was a bit of a bone shaker, but to get to those views was worth it

Shhh don't tell everyone it's here as it's a secret cafe by the river.. driving requires two people as someone needs to open the gates across the rail line.. there is a small car park, it's down a bumpy track.

Absolutely brilliant! Really nice good and drink. Lots of choice for vegans and non vegans. Brilliant atmosphere and really tucked away. Very dog friendly. Even saw them ferrying people across from the other side of the river. Will definitely be going again

Really beautiful location for a cafe. Love all the eclectic furniture outside. The food is amazing-fantastic brownies. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There’s a river ferry so you can pop over to Whitlingham for a walk. We will definitely be back it is so relaxing sitting by the river.

Perfect place to stop when kayaking on the broads. Delicious fresh cakes, very friendly staff and a beautiful terrace overlooking the river. Lots of place to moor boats and kayaks. Try the flapjack and the vegan apple cake. Also the coffee was too notch! We shall be back to try the Thai curry for sure.
