My partner booked this campsite for our family before reading any reviews. I read the reviews and told her to cancel it immediately. After a bit of back and forth, we decided to take the risk.
After arriving, I realised I used to camp there as a kid.
It's a beautiful area and I can't really fault the campsite. Toilets and shower blocks were always pretty clean there was no litter, and the noise was minimal. After half 10.
The park could do with a lick of paint and a few tonnes of wood chip, but the kids didn't care.
The food in the clubhouse is very expensive for what it is, but that was irrelevant because we took our own food and camping stove anyway.
The timings for the pool should be looked at, and booting everyone out of the pool just to stand there shivering cold while the others get changed to go in wasn't ideal for the kids.
There is nothing really to complain about and give a bad review for.
Well be back

I've been coming to this holiday park for the last few years with friends and family. Our choice of accommodation is to pitch tents but have recently booked in to stay at one of the glamping pods.

The park houses caravans but the majority of the space is taken up by motorhomes and campers.

The park is maintained to a high standard and the location is excellent. It feels remote and quiet but also is busy with people which is a nice feeling. It's a short walk through the woods to Brighouse Bay where you will find a decent size beach to relax on. This beach is quite popular with the body boarders and canoe enthusiasts.

There are 2 main toilet blocks which also provide showering facilities and a dish washing area. Disposal of chemical toilets is also accommodated for the motor homes.

The main reception is very helpful and this is also where the recently renovated shop is located. Has all the basic food items, toys for the kids, gifts as well as beers and wine.

There's a kids playground slap bang in the middle of the park, which has seen better days recently but does the job. Most of the kids seem to enjoy riding their bikes around the place anyway.

At the far end of the park is the clubhouse building which has a bar/restaurant as well as a swimming pool and arcade area. Adjacent is a golf course with buggy hire available.

All in all it's a great place to come for a weekend or longer, lots to do and has a very good vibe. You can tell people come back here time and time again.

Usually go on May, and have just been last week.

Brighouse Bay holiday park has been the best part of my life for the last 16 years. The site has everything you could ever ask for on a campsite, A golf course with beautiful views and a clubhouse with a swimming pool, bar and games room inside which is right next to the golf course which you really don’t see often. The whole campsite is looked after well and the staff try their hardest to meet the expectations of all customers. if you want to take your children and family on a holiday to remember, This is the place. Wonderful campsite and lovely environment. Honestly could not recommend a better place

What a beautiful place! Views out across the golf course to the sea are spectacular! Often see deer and hares along with lots of other wildlife.
The team managing the site are always really friendly and helpful too!
The kids love the park, pool and golf course as well as the amazing bay where they can paddle board.

Great campsite suitable for traditional camping, caravans and more, includes easy access to the beach and a nice on site complex. Has a swimming pool, Cafè and a games room with plenty of games to keep the kids occupied. The complex also has a pub. The site has plenty of activities to keep you busy, from golf to horse riding there’s enough fun for the whole family.

Had a great few nights camping with my family . Pitch was great , plenty of space , toilets & showers were great. Food from the clubhouse was fab kids loved it , plenty for kids to do and wish we got to stay longer. Was a little worried due to recent reviews but fantastic site and will definitely be back 😀

Big site but broken up into smaller areas. Site was v quiet due to not being busy, was well laid out, facilities all clean and tidy including toilets. Pitch was great. Shop is OK but didn't really use it much- leisure centre looks fine but we only really went for a game of pool, swimming pool looked good but didnt use it. Staff all seemed helpful, beach was lovely. Whole family including two boys and our dog enjoyed our weekend. Only downside as inexperienced caravaners was that the last few miles of road into the site are singletrack road but the payoff for this is that its v quiet at night being far away from main roads.

What a lovely site.
Although we went for a week in November in our motorhome, it was a relaxing week we were looking for, and that's certainly what we got.
It's quite a big site, and I can imagine it being busy in better weather. There are 2 good sized toilet blocks. One of them looks recently upgraded and has large shower/toliet/wash-basin areas, with underfloor heating (a godsend in the winter), a shower that runs properly, not just a 15 second burst of water when you press the button, and a shower headed mounted higher on the wall than some other sites.
It's a well presented and maintained site, the staff are really friendly (especially Debbie).
It's a great site for stargazing when the skies are clear, due to the lack of light pollution.
Theres a nice forest at the bottom of the site which is great for dog walks and leads directly onto the beach.
There's plenty of wildlife around, from a wee fat Robin that visited us daily, to pheasants, pigeons, rabbits and deer.
The leisure centre only opens Friday to Sunday in the winter, which was a bit disappointing, but we did a run to Castle Douglas (13 miles away) to stock up on necessities. Kircudbright is closer (5 miles) and is good for a wander around (especially Kennedy's). There are also a number of general stores, kind of Alladins Cave stores that will have what you need.

In the words of a legend - I'll be back
😁

We have been to this site more than once and I must say we have been very comfortable and pleased as to how clean and tidy the site is kept at all times so deepest thanks to all the staff who work hard to achieve this. The site is great for children the smiles and noises all through the day assures you of this rest assured for those of you that like a bit of quiet there are places where you can find the relaxing noises of nature just ask. If you find yourself returning at a later date the staff when you book will remind you where on the site you last stopped and if available it's yours. I like this place hope you do to

Lovely campsite, quite large and busy but everyone was respectful and quiet. Very friendly staff at the reception and shop. We had a pitch next to the forest walk and beach. Perfect for dogs. Well maintained shower block with really warm water. Lovely costal walks. Little Ross Island was quite impressive.

No WiFi or reception at our pitch however it was not a bother. There was WiFi at the entertainment place.

Lovely spacious pitches. Came with a campervan. Nice wee pool and leisure complex. Quiet when we arrived but got busy over the weekend. One wee thing is that cars seemed to be going quite fast at times. Hopefully when busy they will stick to the 10 miles per hour. Loads of wild life. Red squirrels, rabbits, Song Thrush, Swans, Geese, ducks. To name but a few.

A lovely place not far from a secluded beach. A good wee restaurant and bar with entertainment. There are plenty good showers and toilets and sinks for washing up your dishes. Short car ride into the Artist town of Kirkudbright with lots to see and plenty places to eat.

A great camp site for families. A nice size park for the kids play. Facilities are clean and tidy. There is a shop on site or a tesco express about 6 mile in a town called Kirkcudbright from the site.

Came here to surprise a friend who had booked this site. We loved it. Not all facilities open yet but that did not stop anyone from having a great time. Loads to do, close to the beach and the whole place was silent by midnight x look forward to going back 😁
