A fine tearoom serving breakfast, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, paninis, soup and lots of cake with a great selection of teas and coffees, served by very friendly staff.
Scones were served with whipped cream (clotted cream is a Southern thing, when I asked!). Despite the lack of clotted cream, the scones were absolutely delicious, very fresh and light. Coffee was Java - wonderfully strong.

Had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the sunshine- over looked by the Abbey. Enjoying our meal, looks a nice tearoom inside also. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice gift shop at front of the building too.

Wonderful place to go and on this occasion the woman who served us was amazing.

Me and my partner and my best friend went for a walk up criffel and once we got back down we went to the tea room. Unfortunately my partner out of no where passed out. Luckily my BF is first aid trained and helped him, however the woman who served us, was very caring asking if she could do anything. Getting cushions so he can rest his head on them, a stool to put his feet up and afterwords, after he came round she kept asking if he was alright and if he needed anything.

Just want to send our love to our server.

Pleasant tea rooms right next to the Abbey ruins. Run independently and open at times when the Abbey's closed. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and also a small gift shop too.

We stopped here for lunch after climbing Criffel. It was a midweek lunch time and so fairly quiet. We were served quickly by friendly staff and the food was good.

We had home made soup of the day (courgette and carrot), which was particularly delicious and served with very tasty seeded bread, and a vegetarian haggis panini. We had a freshly made lime and coconut scone afterwards which had good flavour but could have done with a better rise.

Overall a pleasant tea rooms and gift shop with friendly service and tasty food.

First visit here and we had a lovely time. Afternoon tea for two, a treat from our son. Good choice of freshly made sandwich. Beautiful warm scones with jam and cream. Finished off with delicious coffee cake and a pot of tea. The lady who served us was so lovely and friendly. Offered to take our photo so we could send it to our son. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit. We would highly recommend a visit here. We will be back very soon.

We stumbled across this lovely place the day after our wedding in July 2017. Best scones I've ever tasted! Best cream I've ever tasted, best butter and jam I've ever tasted too! Darn good coffee as well. 😁
I remember that it was so nice to sit outside and enjoy our food tea and coffee. Beautiful surroundings and the old Sweetheart Abbey is quite impressive. We have a bit of a drive from South Ayrshire but we can't wait to come back here.
I'm already checking my calendar as I see you're opening on the 16th of February? 😃
● UPDATE: September 2020. I was wondering if the tearoom would reopen after the lock down. I'm glad it did. And the scones are just as good as I remember. I love this place.
● UPDATE: December 2020. Definitely my favourite place to come to for a lunch or a tea and a cake. Baked potato with vegetarian haggis is my favourite at the moment - and I'm not even a vegetarian. I like that haggis has just the right amount of heat in it.
And yes, the scones are still to die for!
● UPDATE: May 2021. I was thinking to myself that I have to get a hold of the recipe for these scones as I'm becoming a bit fanatical about them 😉. However, it's not all about the food, is it? Well, the food plays the biggest part and believe me it is great, but it's also about the surroundings which are beautiful, the tearoom is lovely, the staff are always pleasant. The whole experience is a treat and I like it this way. Plus, I like to support locals and their business as much as I can, especially in these difficult times just now.
Thank you for keeping this tearoom open and for cooking for us.

Lovely little tearoom that we stumbled across after hiking up Criffel. The food was good and the lady who served us was very friendly. Also reasonably priced.

A fantastic little tearoom serving home made cakes, sandwiches and light lunches. The prices are competitive, the room clean and the food tasty. The staff are helpful, friendly and efficient.

It can get busy but that is because it is dersvedly popular

I bought a tea for 2 gift voucher for my wee Granny's 70th birthday and throughout the whole duration of purchasing the tickets to the super duper prompt delivery and the actual outing to the Abbey Cottage Tearoom were absolutely fantastic. So attentive and lovely. My granny and her husband thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had such a lovely day, I am actually writing this review on behalf of my granny because she wanted to mention that all the staff were fantastic and the food and tea were delicious! they even saved their cakes for their supper!

Thank You Abbey Cottage Tearoom you're wonderful!

Had lunch here today, on entering the staff showed us which tables were available and suggested one where we could view the Abbey from the window. I had a brie and bacon pannini and asked for the bacon to be crispy and when it arrived it was done perfectly. The staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. It was a lovely lunch and we will come again when next in the area.

Had a lovely afternoon tea at the Tea room yesterday (27/8/22). We arrived at about 1515, service was very prompt by a very professional young man (Thomas). It was a gorgeous sunny day so we sat outside in the lovely garden area. The afternoon tea was delicious, sandwiches with lovely soft brown bread, they only had fruit scones left which is understandable at the time we arrived but we were not disappointed at all, they were lovely with the cream and Jam. I opted for the vitoria sponge as my cake and my partner had the Lemon cake. We were so full from the sandwiches and scone we decided to have the cake at home and this was not a problem at all, the cake was put into a take away box for safe transit for us.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere and fantastic quality food at a reasonable price. I look forward to going back to try more of the menu.

We went to the Tea Rooms in New Abbey on my birthday. We had coffee snd cake and the lady put a candle in the cake and sang happy birthday to me. The cake was delicious and they have speciality teas as well. The tea rooms are very quaint. I highly recommend a visit.

Wonderful coffee shop. Staff were fantastic. It was a very busy day for them. Nothing was too much trouble. The soup, sandwich and cake couldn’t be faulted.
