Really wonderful old style builders merchants. There sell virtually everything and if they haven't got it they can usually get it. Not the tidiest place but great value and good products. It's like walking into an Aladdin's cave. Please don't change

I've been using A K Williams for years now, it can get quite busy so don't expect to be in and out it a few minutes especially if you need something cutting. They have a great selection of timber including sheet materials you can buy as much or as little as you like and if they don't have it chances are they can order it in. They also have a good selection of screws fixings and ironmongery with knowledgeable staff ready to help. A good traditional place I hope are there for years to come.

I love this place. Full of racks of oddments of wood of all kinds, just select what you want after a good rummage, then best of all they cut it to your measurements. This is such a great service in a world of bland DIY stores as not everyone has the tools (or skills) to do this. Thoroughly recommended to anyone who loves woodworking or just needs to do jobs round the house.

No Problem placing the order or collecting the goods. Small orderly queue on collection at the appointed time (wood waiting for us on a trolley). Excellent "old fashioned" service.and good value.

What a brilliant place, the timber purchased was the best I've seen and the value for money is second to non, the staff are so friendly and accommodating cutting the lengths I required making my project easier to manage.

Great customer service, know their stuff. Phoned, ordered and paid for items over the phone due to Covid. Items were ready for collection half an hour later.

If you want timber or building supplies try here first. Prices on timber are way cheaper than all the DIY stores and they will cut the wood to the sizes you want. AK's has been around since I can remember (50+ years!) and lets hope they are around another 50+ years.
