Nikos Restaurant Castle Douglas

I was very lucky to win two roast Sunday dinners. We decided to have them as takeaway tonight. We were not disappointed. My roast chicken was tender and juicy. Vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were perfectly cooked. My husband had the roast lamb and said it also was delicious. We will definitely be seeing you soon. Thank you so much.

Flavoursome cooked to order meals. Fabulous Gluten free meal choices. Great service, friendly, helpful. Vegan tagine superb. Husband had pizza. The house made pizza dough for the base was the best he'd had. Would highly recommend. Minimal wait time for freshly prepared tasty food.

What an amazing place.
We came down with our dog who is quite old now and doesn’t like being left alone somewhere that she isn’t familiar with.
A quick google search and it tells me this place is dog friendly.
However being a “Greek” restaurant I wasn’t sure, until that was I saw the menu.
It’s more akin to a Mediterranean Tapas place than just Greek stuff.

It was great. Massive menu, the staff were very friendly and even gave Izzy, my dog, some water. Very dog friendly with a big sign in the door saying dogs are welcome.
We planned on having dessert but after the starter and mains i was stuffed.
We will 100% be back. Great place.

An incredible Greek place in Castle Douglas, of all places. We've eaten there regularly as my parents live in the town, and I've never failed to enjoy their great food. They have an amazing variety of small mezze plates that can easily satisfy a whole meal - I'd advise the courgette fritters and octopus if you're doing that - but main meals are also great.
We took our 3 year old recently actually into the restaurant rather than the takeaway and they were also fantastic with him. Great place.

This place was buzzing on a Saturday from 5.30 onwards. Very friendly staff but younger ones could do with a bit of refinement in delivery of food, a bit like serving up at home! Food absolutely delicious, predominantly served mezze style, which means getting to taste a bigger selection, yum! Great selection of drinks including cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails.

We are on holiday in Castle Douglas and decided to try this Greek restaurant for the first time yesterday evening as we have never tried Greek food. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly. It was quiet when we went in as we were the first ones. Service was quick and didn’t have to wait to long for our food. My hubby and I shared a garlic bread for starters then the mains my hubby had an Italian pizza and I had mushroom creamy pasta. To finish off my hubby had chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. I had strawberries and cream. The starters and mains were all cooked fresh and food was hot when the waitress brought them to us. Portions were just the right size. Food was great and very tasty. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely come back. Booking is recommended as it gets busy.

Food was so nice and authentic..... was just like being back in Crete.
I had the Herculean gyros .... I should have guessed by the name.... and it was huge! My wife had the 'normal ' size gyros and that looked more than enough.
Fully recommend this place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Niko's. We chose five small Greek dishes which were really tasty. Would recommend Niko's to anyone wanting a tasty meal.

Made for a special birthday lunch! £110 for the 5 of us, absolutely worth it. The food! The bread was warm when that incredible sharing starter came out, all home made, the flavours of the humous, aubergine thingy, garlic dip and other thing was amazing and the portion sizes of our mains were plenty! I had the seafood pasta, the scallops, prawns, muscles and squid were cooked perfectly and I'd have it again. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

Our 6 month old daughter enjoyed herself too. great quality high chair, nice and clean and we were allowed to store our fold up buggy in the corner.
There are changing facilities in the one woman's toilet, not sure if there is in the men's

Lovely local restaurant. Friendly attentive staff, even on a busy night. Plenty of choice on the menu, something for everyone. We got married in Greece, and the food was right up there. We especially enjoyed the sharing platter to start. Not cheap, however we had more than enough food.

What a find! Greek food a good prices, lovely staff serving authentic Greek dishes, brought smiles to our faces. The resteraunt is also dog friendly and they certainly made a fuss of Bernard. We had Lunch at Niko's on 23/12/2023 and left vowing to return next time we are up in Galloway.

Delicious food with a lovely and welcoming atmosphere. Very reasonable prices for the quality of the meals and service has been impeccable. We will be returning! 😀

Very tasty food, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were fantastic. We ate a LOT and everything was delicious!

Had dinner here this evening. The sharing platter and meze were fabulous. Stifado, scallops, dolmades, spanakopita and pork belly. The highlights were the home-baked focaccia (part of the starter), and the pork belly, but it was all delicious, with excellent service.
One very, very minor gripe - you could do with thicker cushions on the seats. The seats are quite low, and I felt like a wee boy sitting at the big boys’ table!
But overall, a fantastic night! Well done!

Ordered here twice during our weekend away. Food was very good, quick delivery service and staff were very friendly every time we spoke to them. Highly reccomend

Came across this lovely taverna today whilst looking for somewhere to get a warm meal at lunchtime. Even though they were just about to stop serving they took pity on us and welcomed us in. Food was delicious, lovely staff and good value. Can recommend the lamb tagine.

Amazing food with very large portions. If you get the sharing platter you will only need 3 dishes per person!!!

An unplanned lunch stop was our first introduction to this gem. Being dog friendly was key to us and were made more than welcome.
Excellent food was served by attentive and polite staff, will certainly return soon.

Fantastic mezze served by fantastic staff. Cannot recommend this place enough. The restaurant itself is lovely and even though they were full it never felt overly noisy or too busy and the serving staff were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Nikos. Big thanks to all the staff!
