Excellent cup of tea with a fruit scone and a slice of chocolate cake. Both delicious! Thank you very much!
Phil is a good host- very chatty, very welcoming, with excellent service and he was very accommodating too. A must for anyone passing by or wondering where to go for a coffee and a piece of cake!! Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it.
Phil's art work in his gallery is a must to look round too! Great pieces of work. You'll find them in the tearoom and adjacent rooms. Thanks again for your hospitality Phil.

Usually I wander round galleries and think yes, everything is very nice but expensive and there's nothing I want to buy. Frankly I usually find the owners a bit snooty and the whole experience not very enjoyable.
The Gallery at Laurieston is completely different!
The owner is cheerful and engaging, the art works are accessible and varied. There is something for everyone, paintings, pottery, photography, jewellery and beautiful unusual glass work. Everything is skillfully created by local artists and there is a broad price range so you don't need to take out a mortgage to be able to take home your own piece of art.
All this and there's cake too! Apparently that alone is worth travelling for. We didn't try it this time but its a good excuse to take the scenic drive from Gatehouse of Fleet and go back to try it.
In the meantime I'm enjoying my new earnings and glassware. Dumfries and Galloway is lucky to have more than its fair share of artists and galleries, but this hidden gem is well worth seeking out.

I came across this little gem whilst wandering around on a wet and dark Sunday. As soon as I opened the door I was greeted with a friendly welcome by Frank, dressed in an elf costume. He greeted me like a long lost friend. I immediately felt at ease, and I was introduced to others in the cafe. The whole gallery was covered with such wonderful art, and with coffee and cake available, what more did I need. My first visit will definitely not be the last.

Thank you Phil, for making our first visit to your fabulous gallery cafe so much fun. You are an exceptional photographer and am super happy with our purchases, and cannot wait to receive our bearded tree print. Never change because you have the most wicked sense of humour and cannot wait to visit you again. More yummy coffee and cake, your fabulous company plus more pictures I am sure.
Kindest regards,
Lisa and Gavin (Mary & Alans neice & husband)

Phil is such a character, he's a pleasure to be around.
Coffee and cake just hits the spot on after a long cycle on a chilly day.

The Gallery is a must-see for any lovers of art. Phil's stunning photographs, and the paintings of local artists, are themed around the beautiful Dumfries & Galloway. There are styles to suit every taste, displayed alongside jewellery, glass and ceramics from the region.
And as if that isn't enough to tempt the visitor, the speciality teas, coffees and homemade cakes served with Phil's irrepressible friendly energy make this a fabulous place to visit.

The Gallery itself was interesting with, mainly, pictures and lovely boxes which are made locally.
I had a drink and lovely cake.
The best bit was Phil who has an amazing ability of talking to people and introducing subjects to get people talking.
That could be annoying but it wasn't.
Be sure to visit the Kites and explore the Gallery.

Just happened to pass The Gallery last week as we were thinking of stopping for a coffee. Great gallery and great drinks and cakes and make sure you go to the toilet if you’re there - a bit of a museum in itself.
And Phil is a wonderful host and a force of nature. Well worth a visit.

Delish cake, proper tea and great company offered by all the other cafe goers. This is down to Phil, who not only runs a lovely gallery, but also hosts what felt like friends coming together for tea, even though I knew none of them.

We stumbled upon this place whilst randomly driving around the beautiful local scenery. Stopped to sample some cake and coffee, ended up with a slice of lovely lemon drizzle cake, a generous cup or two of a belting Mexican coffee, some fine loose leaf tea and best of all, a massive slice of personality, realism and life from the owner Phil.

Phil is the type of person to be able to get strangers to engage in a conversation and bit of banter, without them realising and it was a lovely experience, thank you Phil.

The art work and photos are brilliant and will bedeck a room or two of ours when we hopefully move up to the area.

Buyer beware though, Phil loves to sing!!

And a visit to the loo is a must, not something I thought I'd ever write in a review!

Thanks again Phil, see you soon.

Lovely to meet up again Phil for a much needed cuppa and fab cakes. You are working so hard and have a brilliant and much needed enterprise with the gallery and coffee shop. Also supporting the young ones - ( so pleased we got your last piece of cheesecake, sorry! ) Keep him on side, he's got a talent there.
Keep doing what you do well. We hope you get all the support you deserve.

One of Scotland's best hidden gems.

Discovered Phil's gallery by chance, taking random turns on a motorcycle through the amazing countryside that surrounds this place.. And been telling everybody I know that they must visit ever since.

Phil is not only a brilliant photographer, but one of the friendliest and most positive people you will ever meet. Whatever mood you're in, you will be smiling the second you walk through the door :-)

Thanks Phil, it's a real pleasure to visit you gallery, every time.

P.S.: He does have a real coffee too!
