Absolute gem of a place. Loads of cheeses to choose from. Loads of find with an emphasis on Scottish gins. Quirky yet charming decor. Very reasonably priced but the quality is excellent. The staff are also incredibly nice and helpful.

Cute wee place, plenty of seating and a really nice atmosphere. Great selection of food and cakes - the portions are perfect and staff are friendly. Towards the front is a shop that sells cheeses and various foods/drinks - they’ve always got something interesting in stock.

Lovely little gem. Very friendly staff and good homely atmosphere. Great selection of cheese in the deli section and outstanding selection of gin! Great place to pick up something different for Christmas. Very reasonably priced. Definitely going back to check out nibbles for Christmas and New Year.

Bought a £5.00 sandwich yesterday. Was expecting something pretentious and over priced. What I received from the very friendly staff was a well presented sandwich that was more a meal and worth every penny of the £5.00. Great quality and value.

Best cheese shop I've ever visited! The staff were very friendly and helpful, there was a good selection of cheeses and they even said that if I wanted something they could order it in. Not to mention the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend the Blue Murder.

We popped in Smithies as part of a trip to Arbroath for holiday supplies and it was a great experience. I was served by a very knowledgeable and helpful lady, who recommended cheeses based on the types I needed and the amount. The cheeses were all delicious. We had a charcoal cheddar, black bomber, a brie, Colston Basset, a delicious cheese which the lady promised would be better than Cambazola, and it was. At the end of our holiday we only had a small amount left over and everyone was extremely complimentary on the cheese choices. Would definitely recommend.

They have remained open during lockdown with good safety provisions in place. They stock a wide range of cheeses and gin among other things. They have a website and you can place order for collection. They always provide a friendly and helpful service.

Popped in by while I was in Arbroath with the other half. The girls behind the counter were lovely and happy to share their recommendations. They have a really good range of gins available and who doesn't like a nice bit of cheese.
