Found this place while visiting the dentist 🦷
Popped in for a cuppa tea while waiting on the better half , when she arrived we ordered breakfast 🍳 this consisted of one poached egg and beans on toast and one full English breakfast.
It didn’t take long for us to clear the plates both meals were cooked from fresh no precooked rubbish , so expect to wait just a little bit longer but we’ll worth the wait .
It had a very diverse menu and offers a variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks so can cater for everyone’s needs.
Jonathan looked after us and was very good at it, attentive friendly and not over the top 🔝 I’d highly recommend this for any meal time x great looking and clean 🧽 which is always a must xx

Found this gem in Alton, not only was the breakfast lovely and good value but the owner was super friendly and funny. Engaging with all his customers and a true local ensuring his elderly customers were looked after by putting on special affordable meals for them. A rare find and highly recommended.

Booked this café after my trip to Jane Austen’s house and it was wonderful! My server was incredibly friendly and my Afternoon Tea was delicious. If I come back to England, this will be a repeat stop!

(I had trouble trying to call ahead so I direct messaged the café on Instagram and they got back to me very quickly, too)

Austen’s is the best café for miles and miles. Fabulous full English breakfast at a very decent price followed by the best iced coffee money can buy.

Popped in for brunch after my daughters wedding yesterday. There were 6 of us, four adults and two children under 8yrs. The owner was great at making us feel welcome and attentive to our needs. Breakfast menu didn't disappoint we enjoyed the food and coffee 😋

First of all the best service I've ever experienced in a cafe, the food is also amazing quality, I have been a chef in a couple of 5 star restaurants and can't fault it. Over all I think this is my favourite cafe now, especially with the amaretto latte, many other amazing flavours to choose from too.

Maximum stars. Extra for the witty service. Best around.

Always a pleasure going here for coffee, even when it's a take away. Went for a Christmas afternoon tea and it was delicious. The mulled wine was perfect, sandwiches included brie and cranberry and the cake was gorgeous. Portion size perfect, we almost couldn't manage it all. Service is always friendless and informal. Just a great place.

After a horrible journey from Plymouth, my blood sugars dictated that I should eat and I found Austen's café. I was greeted with such friendliness that it made me feel like I was coming home, how lovely. The food I had was fabulous and presented impeccably. Such lovely people. Thank you to them.

Warning. Do not go in here if you like truffles. You will be seduced by there deliciousnesses!! 😂

Really friendly establishment. It’s not massive but worth finding if you are visiting Alton. Good menu options with very tempting cocktails. However we were visiting with kids so had to make do with the lovely green lemonade. Kids loved their veggie pizza and ice cream.

Austens Cafe is a favorite spot of mine in Alton. The atmosphere is very cozy and very welcoming. If you are looking for a nice cup of coffee, tea or a cocktail with friends, Jonathan is the one to see. Reserve a table and have a delicious meal then take the time to indulge in a lush dessert. Austens Cafe offers a loyalty program and Jonathan is the ultimate host.

Visited for a second time yesterday and met by the owner, the wonderfully warm and engaging Jonathan. I'm not local otherwise I would definitely be a regular visitor. We had a simple teacake which was accompanied by a side dish of butter and one of marmalade .... no scrimping here, both more than enough which can't be said for so many food places. The coffee is excellent too - the sure sign of a quality establishment and something the owner clearly takes great pride in. Thanks for such a fantastic welcome. Jonathan really does treat his customers with a gold standard. Absolutely worth a visit for both food and to meet Jonathan.

What a great breakfast. Oh here we go I can hear you say, another boring food review. Wrong, Austen's cafe in Alton, a small very cosy establishment. This is the third time we have tried for breakfast and today was the charm. TIP try and phone beforehand to get a table, it works. Our server ( didn't get his name) was extremely pleasant and had a table prepared for the two of us. First off, tea served in a pot, cup and saucer and jug of milk, nice, he then took our food order. Had a little wait, but hey, this is not fast food, this is damn good food freshly prepared and cooked and well worth the wait, the full English, 2 sausage, really good quality, none of your cheap and cheerful sawdust sausages here, some of the best bacon going, really good rashers, thick and very well cooked, some mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, beans and a superb egg, and to round that off 2 slices of proper toast with real butter, no wonder this place gets busy. We will be going back not only for more breakfasts but also for the midweek roast, ( on Wednesday's), if the quality of that is as good as the breakfast I am moving in. Also does a good range of coffees and cakes, and if you do require, a cocktail range is available too.
If you want good food and a pleasant surrounding with a great host and chef, don't go any further, this is the place. I give it 20 stars out of 5. Excellence on a plate.
