The Greengate Cafe

What a lovely little cafe. Its been a dire wish of us to stop by this cafe for over two years as we travelled down Barking road. Today that wish came true!
We were out on the greenway bike path and exited on Barking road.
We ordered the Sunday roast lamb dinner, cake and coffee.
The food was fresh and tasty. The lamb was my favourite! Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection!
The coffee and cake was well worth the wait.
The ladies were locals making the experience worth the stop.

I had a sunday roast here. For a small local family run cafe my experience was spectacular. The food was amazing with my meat cooked to perfection. The kind lady behind the till was very friendly and attentive even when busy. Prices are very cheap. You will definitely leace happy if u visit here. Highly recommended

What an amazing cafe with so many interesting vegan options. Loved the freshly made roti with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and onions, which came with avocado and salad. Good coffee. Reasonably priced. Welcoming & helpful staff. So happy to have this little gem in our area! Keep up the great work team Greengate Cafe!

I noticed a sign for vegan food in the window of this cafe awhile back and I regret not popping in sooner. Not only was the food enjoyable but the staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. They're very happy to veganise foods and they always have vegan options. I'm especially excited to go back to try the vegan pie and mash with liquor 🤤😋

Honestly the best cafe in London! Star quality food, the chef is simply amazing! The staff here are truly the best, every time I come here with my family they always make me feel so welcome I can’t recommend enough.

A lovely local cafe! Not many places like it around so it really is nice to have it on the doorstep. Delicious coffee for a great price! We haven’t tried the food yet but will definitely be back for some breakfast.

Absolute gem, this cafe is welcoming and friendly and I am very glad that I popped in today. I had the lamb roast which was delicious and great value.

We came back to the area where we were born and wanted to try pie and mash. We were greeted and invited in by the lovely daughter who made us feel so welcome. Her mother cooked us the delicious food and we chatted about all the people who had come in over the years.
The food was really good value, the welcome was warm and we felt right at home. An absolute gem and would recommend this little piece of history

Meant to visit this place but couldn't find the time. Don't wait, go there. The food is really tasty, big portions and good value for money. Clean and quiet. The staff was very lovely and did everything to make us feel good and looked after. Really sorry I haven't asked for their names. Definitely going back.

Excellent service! The owner, his Mrs and Simon are so warm, friendly & funny! Love coming here. The paninis are very yummy served with salad and very reasonably priced place. Sitting outside is pretty and gives you that tourist/holiday vibe. Love visiting here! Always has customers, never empty.

Great cafe! I had a lovely piece of cake and a very good cup of coffee. Relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. Worth a visit!

Pasted this little gem of a cafe the other day on my way back from a night shift. Saw a chalked board outside saying homemade salt beef bagels.

Having tried quite a few cafe around London on my travels stating selling salt beef bagels, none have come close to the big boys I was used to years ago when I visited brick lanes bagel shop.

These salt beef bagels at The Greengate Cafe were spot on...They were fresh, Fully loaded with salt beef and tasted great.

I went back the next day to get another one to see if they were consistent and they were....great.
Went back on a Sunday to try their Roast dinner and that was delicious too.

I’m going to try the pie and mash next visit and was recommended to have the mince pie by the the lovely lady there who was very friendly and welcoming as she said the mince pie went very well with the liquor.

Would recommend the cafe to anyone who likes quality food at an affordable price.
The setting is lovely too, very well decorated.

Visited yesterday for breakfast and had the “big brekky”, which was recommended. It did not disappoint, the sausages were particularly great!

Overall, the staff were friendly and very welcoming, especially when helping me decide exactly what I wanted, the general atmosphere was perfect, and the pricing is great considering the excellent quality of the food.

Will be visiting again soon and would highly recommend to all.

Coffee is good too and the owners are very friendly and patient! Now that I've discovered it I'll be back all the time!!

The Green Gate Cafe

This is a fledgling establishment that has the makings of a great cafe/bistro.

The premises was a Pie and Mash shop and in a nod to the history of the establishment they have kept it on the menu, however they have so much more to offer too!!

From full English Breakfasts to twists on the classics, such as vegetarian and vegan breakfast too they have a broad vision of the future. This is only scratching the service though, as you progress through the menu there are many healthy and filling options at VERY reasonable prices.

As an example jackets with salads and many main options, chick wings (not the fast food type), baguette and sandwiches, salt beef and Beigel, main meals, salads and daily specials the choice is endless. Oh and the roasts, £6.50 for a full roast is unreal for the quality. We also HAVE to mention their Pie and Mash, 10/10!!

Talking to the owners it is clear that they not only have more food options planned but also opening hours and many interesting twists which will keep the venue fresh and vibrant.

For all of you that are sick of fast food, chicken shops and global company’s you need to get yourself to the Green Gate Cafe ASAP!!!
