The Black Lion

A great find.
Such a lovely pub, great staff and a great beer garden and a fantastic Sunday afternoon vibe.
Porchetta roast was really tasty. Pork crackling was perfect and crispy. the pork itself was nice and tender.
Beef dripping roast potatoes were nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.
Kale, carrots and gravy were on point as well.
Only frustrating part of the roast, they were lacking cauliflower cheese.
It's not to pricey as well, lots of decent side options.

For being just off such a busy street this high-ceiling haunt strikes as a sanctuary. As soon as you step in the music hits. Not soon after your staring at a bar full of unique, uncommon biers on tap.

If you pop in for the Sunday roast you won’t be dissatisfied…especially if you snag the goat cheese wellington or the chicken! Yes you heard that right…get the darn chicken.

All and all, you could sit here all day as the sun soaks through the expansive windows and lights up the elder bar wall.

What a super place! The Black Lion appears a music led venue. It was quiet when I visited but all the staff busy setting things up. Plenty of keg beers on offer, reasonably priced. Also, cask ales on offer for the real drinker. Brilliant service, the place left me feeling happy.

So celebrated my birthday on Saturday and we had booked an area for me and my guests ! And from The get go the whole staff was so accommodating..friendly.. and welcoming..

Live band was on point and could not fault any part of the experience! Would highly recommend this spot for events and celebrations as it was an amazing vibe and talk easy spot. Wish I could give more stars !! Thanks again guys !

Food was delicious, good selection of beers, staff were super nice and the atmosphere was top notch.

If you are looking for a place to celebrate NYE (or any celebration) … This is your pub!! Live music is chefs kiss, atmosphere and people are just lovely and the manager is an icon!!

Excellent pub in West Hampstead. Great to sit inside or outside, there is also a beer garden in the back with plenty of space.

Very friendly service, all the staff were really great and helpful.

Very clean bathrooms too. There is pub quiz on a Sunday which is great.

Overall great place, definitely visit in the area.

Taylor is a really solid guy. Made me and my Mrs feel very welcome. Really helped elevate the atmosphere with his humour. Good to meet someone who’s also into Craig David!

One of the best nights of my life with the people I love most. Could not have been possible without the amazing team working behind the bar and the awesome manager at the Black Lion, the insanely talented band, and the iconic atmosphere. Happy new year! 🥳

Amazing place! Must go! Lovely atmosphere! We spent the New Year's eve there and we had a really great time. The music was amazing, with good energy! We couldn't try the food because we arrived afterr 22h.

Good ambient, great life music. Devoted stuff.

Absolutely love this place. We come as a family, or as a couple and the vibes are right no matter when we arrive. I love attending the brunch dates with my friends too. We are so raucous and it's just a fun way to spend the day. Will be back!

Seen the Black Lion go through many incarnations during my years of living in NW London, but what it is now under the current management and team is the best lion yet!
The wine list offers great value for money and the menu is exciting.
Service is always friendly and willing to please so why go anywhere else!

If you're looking for a cozy and friendly place to enjoy a pint and some pub grub, you can't go wrong with the Black Lion. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the food was delicious and hearty. I had the vegan wellington which was perfect. The beer selection is also impressive, with a range of local and imported brews on tap. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable meal.

Sat down for an evening pint alone and bored. But alas the night was to take a turn! My waiter Dom was amazing - knowledgeable, friendly and warm. He even went so far as to offer me some much needed advice on my tattered love life! Will come back again and again.

What a great pub the Black Lion is , the heart of the West Hampstead community!
The garden is beautiful and the choice of live music an added bonus when London has lost so many informal music venues.
But the best thing about the Lion is the friendly clientele and the wonderful team who always make you feel so welcome. Alex served my group on my last visit and he looked after us in grand fashion!

Another Live music night at the Black Lion, with so much fun and excitement. Food is great and the waitress had really been amazing to find us a table and take care all night long. The place to be on Friday or Saturday' nights in West Hampstead

After the refurbish this pub has found a new light. Beautiful pub with great drinks great food and lovely workers. Theo’s service was especially amazing and his cocktails always bring a smile on my face.
