Really nice place to eat and drink. Been there three times in the last month, Sunday lunchtime is great. Roast potatoes could be slightly more crispy. But otherwise fab. Good value as well. Tips are not included, to which you have the option to give at the end.

What a lovely, friendly pub. Warm welcome from all staff, roaring fires and delicious home cooked food. We had home made tomato and basil soup and then homemade steak and Guinness pie with a selection of fresh vegetables and the gammon from the specials menu. Lots of choice for each course.
We were actually staying in Wincanton but the drive to the Bay Tree was well worth it to have a selection of fresh, home cooked food and a warm welcome.

Just had lunch here with my boyfriend and we could not recommend it enough, a great little find! Service was outstanding thank you to Kevin- he was very friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed speaking to him! Food was brilliant, best pub food I’ve had. Definitely recommend the burger and beer battered cod. We will definitely be back.

Delightful welcome and service. Excellent home-made menu choices, the food was very tasty and piping hot. It really had a homely feel and was unusual in this day and age. Full marks.

We went here for the first time today and I'm blown away. I really fancied the steak even though--until today--I'd never had a good steak in a pub and I even told them as such. Well the sirloin I had today was cooked well (to medium) and a nice cut of meat too. The onion rings that came with it were probably the best onion rings I've had out; they had a nice sweetness and easy to bite through without taking the entire ring out of the batter. The chips were crispy on the outside, golden, and fluffy on the inside. Perfection.

And the crowning glory of my meal was actually the creamy pepper sauce. It was a generous portion that lasted my entire meal, including for the chips and onion rings. The taste and creaminess was spot on. It's by far the best peppercorn sauce I've had at a restaurant and reminded me of my grandmother's peppercorn sauce. In fact the sauce was so spot on if I didn't know she was no longer with us I would have had to check in the back of the kitchen to make sure she didn't make it herself.

My wife was worried she'd have food envy of my steak when she ordered the lasagne. However, she was delightfully happy with her choice. And she loved the tolberone cheesecake for desert. Oh and the homemade garlic bread to start was really nice. Way
better than garlic bread most places and very clearly homemade. I'd recommend this place to anyone and we will definitely be back. I want to try a burger next time, but I'm worried I'll regret it not having the creamy pepper sauce again.

Wow, I never knew this little gem existed - many years ago I had visited and it was closed, so naturally thought it was gone for good like so many other, however it is very much open.

Only popped in for a beer and it was excellently kept.

Tidy and cosy, will be going back for food as soon as possible.

Fancied proper food cooked well and that's what I got. With extra atmosphere thrown in by great cliental. A wonderful welcoming landlord, with a fabulous bar staff service was amazing. The gravy I'd go back just for that, and tasty food another one on the map, definitely worth a return. They make their own ice-cream.

Absolutely love this place. Staff are really friendly and welcoming, food was delicious and reasonably priced. Wish there was a couple more ales on tap, but other than that, perfect. Lovely atmosphere, best pub in Cary 👌

My wife and I visited Castle Cary yesterday, and came across The Bay Tree . We hoped to find somewhere special for a birthday lunch, and couldn't have enjoyed food more. Garlic prawns, cod and mozzarella fishcakes followed by a good old-fashioned knickerbocker glory to finish - all beautifully presented and delicious. The coffee was first class too. Excellent service, and excellent value. Would certainly recommend to my friends.

Had lunch with a friend yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. We both had the gammon and chips and it was spot on. Generous portions too, so we shared a pudding of the homemade toblerone cheesecake which was out of this world! Really friendly service and lovely relaxed atmosphere, I’d highly recommend!

What a lovely, friendly pub. Landlord and staff are friendly and welcoming, good selection of beer and cider. Very tasty food with large portions! We shared a starter, had a main each and barely finished a shared dessert! If you are in the area, drop in and enjoy.
