Been wanting to visit here for ages and chose a quiet Monday afternoon to drop by.
Really nice pub with plenty of seating in the bar, restaurant, marquee or outside. Every member of staff we saw spoke to us and was polite and the sever was really genuine. Got our order correct also. Drinks tasted delicious (maybe because it was my first whisky in a year since giving birth). The food came and was superb. Nicely presented, fresh and REALLY tasty. We just had a sharing platter and some small plates to test it out and was not disappointed at all. I drive past here regularly and will certainly be back soon

Absolutely incredibly delicious food. The service was outstanding. After a mix up with our reservation we ate in the marquee. Got pretty warm then cold. An issue especially with an 11 month old. People arriving with dogs seemed too much, really. Still 5*. Thank you.

Really nice location for a country pub. The menu is great. I had the gammon that came with a pineapple salsa. It was really nice. The gammon was thick and a great portion of chips and onion rings. The beer selection is really good and fresh. I managed to fit in a desert that was really nice. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was appealing. I really enjoyed the meal and time I spent there. The service from that waitress was also great. Thank you.

Called in on the off chance for lunch. Really nice shared platter. Purity ale which is a bonus. Highly recommended.

Went to The Why Not with my Dad & Mom for my 50th birthday. We were all very impressed with the friendly service and the food was excellent.
Mum had the Sea Bass and she said it was the best meal she'd had out in a long time. To me, you won't get a better thumbs up than that.
Highly recommend.

Sorry the pics are of partly eaten portions.

Lovely refurbished so much bigger than it used to be, lovely location with open views over fields on the back garden seating area .food was delicious and textures were fab enjoyed all my 3 courses , I chose gluten free my starter was the chicken satay which was devine , and my main was the seabass , although the fish was very thin it didn't dissapoint as the flavours were fab.. . The whole experience was perfect, the service was spot on & the waitresses were 100 % attentive at all times, cheerful , & caring nature.
Dogs are allowed in the restaurant as I believe I saw one in there , there is a main seating area in the main part, lots of out door seating area over looking the fields & far views out the back, and a huge conservatory off the side of the main building which is a marquee, but it's done out inside extremely lovely which seems to gives it that conservatory feel . Parking is quite big at the rear of the main building. Will definitely be making this our go to place for special meal time Outings for myself & my husband, and our son & we will & have already recommended to family & friends, & will certainly be asking them to join us in the near future. Loved every minute of our time together there , its not very often we get to go anywhere because of my health condition. It would be even more perfect if the menu was also dairy free & gluten free options, as I'm very restricted on my diet , no gluten, no dairy, sugar & additives & preservatives very much more , those though being the main ones. There is only so much you can expect from eating out so some of my restrictions have to be ignored & suffer the consequences, but if these were available more wide spread more people would dine out . Thank you to all the staff that served us that evening it was so relaxing & extremely enjoyable. 😊.

First meal out in over a year due to Covid and The Why Not did not disappoint. Their outdoor seating area was cosily lit, heated and added to the warm atmosphere. Service was very prompt, friendly and professional. Considering all of the customers are on table service only, all staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious, my partner had the gammon and I had the "Why Not Burger". All cooked to perfection and the burger was obviously home made. Especially impressed by their 'slaw, a component I usually throw away, however their chef's fresh take on a usually neglected condiment surely did hit the spot. Their halloumi fries were also cooked well and complemented the meals perfectly. Massive thanks to all at The Why Not and we will see you again soon.

Lovely atmosphere, food delicious and so fresh. Greek salad was missing olives, but wasn't so important.

We didn’t eat so I cannot add a review for that, but the beer options were great and the reception we had at the bar and indeed from the staff around the beer garden was spot on, lovely place and a lovely view too!

Honestly, if I didn't live in Cardiff, this would be my local. The staff are delightful: smiley, friendly, smart, helpful, nothing is too difficult for them. The menu choices are few enough, yet of a decent range for anyone to find something they like and know that it will be prepared with care. And my! What preparation! What flavours!
The stilton mushrooms on toast were delicious, and just the right amount for a starter.
The medium rare fillet steak was perfect. Tender, tasty and pink. The beans were firm, the potato dauphinoise was just right, and the stilton and mushroom sauce not too overbearing.
The churros and hot chocolate sauce was perfectly done - hot, crispy and sweet, with a nicely bitter espresso to balance.
I can't wait for my next visit.

Absolutely beautiful food! Service was top notch too. I had the wild mushroom risotto - it was delicious, I also had eyes bigger than my belly and had cheesy garlic bread (which the staff very kindly put in a take away box for me to take home)! For pudding we shared an oreo cheesecake which was lovely too! 😍

110% recommend.

Thunderbolts and lightning 🌩

I booked the marquee for my 50th birthday party thinking it would be fabulous July weather, lovely and hot.

Literally as I set foot in the pub there was a massive thunder crack and lightning, plus torrential rain; no lights, no tills, no power and no Internet, you couldn't make it up 😆

The staff were amazing, they kept everyone informed of what was happening and the situation in the kitchen - 38 guests were fed and watered without hardly any delays.

The entire staff team were brilliant- pleasant, polite, helpful and calm under the madness at the start of the evening.

The food was good. The marquee was a great space.

All in all it was a great night - thank you Why Not Team

Xxxx

We went to the Why Not for the first time on Sunday, 6 August and were extremely impressed. The food was great, very reasonably priced and we had first class customer service from James and his colleagues. Highly recommended!

Only sat outside yesterday which is lovely and peaceful. Could benefit from a bit of colour in the garden . Had a meal in the past which was delicious.
Also has a bar where you can take dogs.
Nice country pub.
