Amazingly good value for a super comfy nights sleep!

For me, Toad hall was absolutely spot on! I normally camp when mountain biking in Wales but this it’s not so comfortable in January!

If you want something warm, comfortable, cheap and 5 mins from both the town of Machynlleth, Dyfi forest trails (ClimachX etc) and Dyfi Bike Park, I can highly recommend this place.

There’s a mixture of family, double, twin & single rooms, full bedding is supplied and shared bathroom has an excellent hot shower too!

There is a small self-catering kitchen as well, with an oven/hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, small table/chairs and cutlery!

In addition, there’s also a large room for relaxing and playing table tennis, which is the perfect way to complete your day.

Parking is available on site but it’s slightly limited if there’s a few vehicles.

I’ve just had x3 very comfortable nights there for £26 per night.

Communication is excellent and best via text messages to Bill and Louise.

Thank you Bill and Louise, we’ll be back!

Lovely place, a great hostel with a private room, which is good as I'm not good in dormitories ( I know I snore, get self-conscious and then barely sleep). Do follow the instructions to get here carefully.

Once you get over the initial wow factor of the common room you realise it’s a nice clean, damp free place to stay!

Toilet was clean, shower was hot, beds were clean and for only 25 quid a night it’s super cheap stop over! We stayed here for a night on the drive to dyfi bike park!

Go direct for the best price!

The common room has some super quirky stuff in it!

If you’re looking for a 5 star hotel this isn’t the place for you but if you want a cheap place to sleep then crack on 👌

Slight amityville horror vibe but don’t worry it’s all good!

I love this hostel. Opened window. Fresh air. Like in my grandma house. Unbelievable feeling. I definitely recommend being there. Lambs outside. 10 seconds away, big CO-OP and petrol station. Very friendly owners. Beatiful nature when you drive there. Grandma home atmosphere. I sleep like a baby in Grandma's house! Impressed strongly. I came late and can't say anything about pubs. Look, google, I turned to the hostel from the main road and I think there were some bars. Very beautiful drive there. Lake, hills.

What a great little place.

My daughter and I were supposed to be camping but decided not to and found Toad Hall on the magic of google. Its a charming little place, all own rooms with a shared bathroom and fully functional kitchen.

Communal space is huge with loads of comfortable chairs and a ping.pong table, we made use of this even after wandering the mountains all day.

Sadly we only had the one night on this trip due to us having to be places but next rime we will definitely book longer and spend more time in this lovely area.

Toad Hall provides charming basic but immaculately clean budget accommodation . Our bedroom was fresh and Bright and overlooked the garden where chickens and a cockerel roamed. … of course a morning wake up callI. I thought Louise was lovely and friendly.

Nice stay, peaceful place with anything you need to hand. Trains run close but not often and I liked hearing them and the noise is smooth - then you just hear birds tweeting. Great cheap option for exploring the area and clean throughout.

We had a great night in this quirky bunkhouse.
Table tennis, grand piano and rope swing in the common room.
The bedroom was adequate and cosy.
The hostel is just over from the railway station and right in the town, handy for shops.
Right on the Sustrans 8 and 82 routes and central for the Enduro MTB centres, and if course, all the Cambrian mountains.
Will was great with the communication.
Toad Hall will certainly be on my list for future visits.

Unique hostel! Louise is a wonderful host. Appears to be in an old farm house. Nice common area with lots of different knickknacks. Had a ping pong table, and board games. The rooms were nice and comfortable. Small kitchen with everything you need to make a meal. About a two minute walk from the train station. There is a Texxeco right outside the hostel. Stayed here before starting the Snowdonia Way walk through Snowdonia National Park. Close to grocery stores and restaurants.

I stayed at Toad Hall with my partner for a week in early Spring 2018. The accommodation was warm and more than adequate space-wise. Will was a laid back and welcoming host. For example, he put us in touch with one of the local authors of a book that I found on the shelf in the kitchen about walks in the local area. The communal facilities were fine. The shared kitchen was fine for cooking. The shower was nice and hot. We enjoyed our stay.

Ideal basic bunkhouse in Machynlleth. Booked to stay for one night but stayed for two whilst looking around Machynlleth and MOMA. Had a single bed in room to myself although nobody else staying. If you are a walker or cyclist needing a budget place for the night l would find Toad Hall ideal. It has all the essentials, toilet, shower and cooking facilities and a Co-op on the doorstep.

Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Machynlleth. Full of character, easy to find/access and hosts were extremely helpful and always responded quickly. Resident cat is a delight. All facilities you could need and ideal location - sad to be leaving!!!
