The Shire Horse

Food and service were fantastic.
I travel a lot for work and this was a truest lovely place.
It’s nothing special to look at but a great selection of food on the menu and the staff were both friendly and professional whilst able to have a good laugh when the time came.
I enjoyed myself so much I came back on the second night of my visit and was very pleasantly welcomed.
Stacey was a fabulous host and the food was lovely.
I hope to be back again at some point soon.

I was here for lunch with my family, the food was lovely, service great. I had chicken and ham pie and veg. Very tasty. Then sticky toffee pudding. Loved it. The only issue was deciding what to have. !. We all really enjoyed our meals. Will definitely call again.

Visit the Shire Horse regularly. Great food and great friend staff and service. Liv and Jane are amazing behind the bar.

We were staying at the Premier Inn next door and wandered over for what we thought would be an very average meal. But we were blown away by the whole experience at the Shire Horse. From start to finish the service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The drink and food came quickly and nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff. The food was cooked perfectly and was very good quality. A really delicious and enjoyable meal. Highly recommended! Would choose to stay at this Premier Inn in future when passing this way just so we can eat at the Shire Horse. It was that good!

A Saturday afternoon lunch using Tesco vouchers to part pay for a nice meal. Table service includes drink orders, staff very friendly and helpful. Smothered chicken is really Hunters chicken. Good to have cod and not haddock like many places serve when you ask for fish n chips. Must remember to enter your vehicle registration on entry or a fine will be issued from carpark owners
Beer was mainly lagers and IPAs would of preferred a more traditional ale but that’s just my preference

The staff were brilliant. I never travel alone but had to on this occasion for work, which meant dining alone. They found me a quiet corner and looked after me very well. The food was great, as I always expect from a Chef & Brewer. A lovely bar/restaurant and a great location to continue my journey on the M6 the following day. Thank you for making me so welcome!

May, Drew, Liv and Jane were wonderful. We come regularly for lunch and it’s my favourite place to take my mother and my Nan.

Come back to this pub which is half way to our destination. Not staying overnight this time. Food just as good as what we remembered. Hoping to visit again when we return back south... If they have a table.....

I have eaten here a few times. The food is always good. Last time the service wasn't so good ...this time it was absolutely brilliant. The staff were both friendly and efficient. Glad I gave them another try. Will definitely be back.

25 of us unexpectedly turned up for breakfast at 09:30 yesterday morning. Darren was super helpful!
With only 1 chef in the kitchen (originally preparing for lunch) & breakfast being cooked to order, they took our orders & gradually brought hot food out for all.
The poor waiter (Harvey) was dragged out of bed 3-hours earlier than he expected to be, to help bring food from the kitchen to the tables.
We can't thank the team enough for going above & beyond to help finish our weekend birthday celebrations.

Overnight stay in Stafford and went to The Shire Horse for beers and dinner (only chosen as it was the nearest pub to the hotel). Pleasantly surprised and would highly recommend it. Menu was typical Chef & Brewer (proper pub grub which I like). Food was well prepared and presented and despite being a busy Friday night, was served quickly. More importantly beers were well kept (Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale). Table service was excellent (thanks to Jane, Drew, Mat and Lyan).

Had a delicious brownie this evening, compliments to the dessert chef Si and Caoimhe for her excellent service!!

Visited with friends for a festive meal. The staff were extremely helpful, the food was plentiful and great value for money which was a refreshing change from other Christmas meals I've had elsewhere and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed.

This is only my taste don't get me wrong, the steak and ale pie was fantastic, tasty, but for me the pastry was a bit on the heavy side that how ever small didn't take anything away from the rest of the meal we will be going back as there is more to try on this menu

Cosy pub. Very friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff, namely Tim, Stacey and Gina. Tasty food. We dined here twice during a stay in the Premier Inn and enjoyed both occasions. They were able to accommodate a surprise birthday treat too.

Just want to shout out to the waitress your Caoimhe who served us few weeks back can I just say she is a credit to the pub, thankyou your manners politeness and professionalism was given throughout our dining service, It was lovely to say a young lady with a huge smile and be so polite It is rare to see that these days, I don't live not far from there been few times in the past and to be honest the not the best welcoming but you certainly changed my mind, see you soon Shire Horse

Great food at lunchtime. It was made extra special though because of the excellent service provided by Liv. She was excellent- confident - informative and so helpful, I would say really happy in her job and an asset to the company.

Wonderful service. The young lady who looked after us was really polite and lovely. Food was beautiful too!

Visited the shire horse on Sunday 21/8/22. Great pub, friendly staff. I had enquired about food late on, however the manager was kind enough to allow me to order something. It had been a long day travelling. Stake an ale pie was banging, washed down with few pints for good measure. If I'm ever in the area again I'll be back.

Went for dinner as staying at the Premier Inn. Service was very efficient and friendly. I had the smothered chicken which was well cooked and tasty.
