Tudor House Museum, Weymouth

The Tudor House is a real gem. The guided tour offers great insights into how the house was lived in - and the contents, some replica, many real artefacts, are beautiful and fascinating. Highly recommend.

We vsited this fantastic museum while on a holiday to Weymouth. The guides are so nice and friendly. We were offered a guided history and so glad we said yes. The guide brought the history of this extraordinary house to life and his knowledge of the furniture and artefacts was brilliant too. We learnt so much. It was free to visit too.

Really enjoyed the tour in our holiday to Weymouth. House was not far from where we are staying and cost just over £10 for 3 of us to go in and for a lovely lady to talk us through the history. We found it very interesting and my son (6years) loved that he got to interact and get involved. Would recommend.

My experience of the Tudor House is quite unique. The museum is full of artefacts and period furniture and was the original brain child of a retired architect Ernest Walmsley Lewis. As a student of architecture l was very fortunate that Ernest let me live in the Tudor House for nearly 3 years for a token rent. I learned a great deal about the history of the Tudor House after Ernest took it on as a project to restore it. He was involved with the Weymouth Civic Society and bequeathed the house upon his death. A true gentleman who l admired. Ask about the secret Armada chest on your visit to the House and then visit one of the local hostilries for lunch.. The side of Weymouth where Trinity St is located is away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre but is well worth a visit finishing with a quiet stroll through Nothe Gardens.

My mum and I both thoroughly enjoyed visiting this historic building which luckily was lovingly restored after World War 2 and had it not of been was due to be demolished because of the bad state it was in.

Very enthusiastic and friendly guides. Had a wonderful time learning from their vast knowledge. Such a wonderful house.
